In the De La Hoya - Mayweather 24/7 (I forget which episode, 2 or 3) Roach is doing a drill with Oscar where DLH pushes Roach off of him and then throws the punch right away, not giving the ref time to warn him and in effect rendering the foul forgotten about. That's the only way Khan could of got away with his crap. Even then his arms are too high and much too extended.
Yeah it's not like they were small pushes off. They were blatant where he fully extended his arms, plus the elbowing, pushing the head down and turning his back... the points off were fully justified I would have liked a warning for refusing to fight as well.
All in all I do feel the ref was very biased against Khan. The first point deduction was definitely uncalled for while the 2nd could have been called IF he had warned a point during the first one. BUT the real issue is the fact that Peterson was constantly pushing, straight arming, and head leading. The ref consistently warning him to get his head up but never sternly nor deducting points. I wonder if they will get the rematch and how said rematch will go. For Peterson it is his big payday moment so I believe he should take it. Khan needs to go to Hopkins and learn to fight dirty & on the inside.
The problem was that everytime they got close, ref automatically is Khan, Khan, muther****ing Khan. Quick someone post me up the KHAN!!! pic. The ref also allowed Peterson to use his head, allowed Peterson to grab Khans gloves. Basically just allowed Peterson to do anything he wanted, and he used his powers to limit and punish Khan. Heck, the way and instances in how Cooper decided to or not break up the action... I noticed that he would generally not officially separate the guys if Khan was at a disadvantage, prone position after a break, so he wouldn't break it. He's just verbally pause the action then allow the to continue. The devil's in the details. This ref is ****.
Tho I think khan's tactics were dirty I have to agree with you totally about the ref's selective breaks and screaming khan khan khan
I'm getting tired of HBO's Bias Jim Lampley...Even Lederman is a joke these past 6 months- GET RID OF LAMPLEY AS HE ONLY TALKS ABOUT FIGHTERS WHO HAVE A "HUGE FOLLOWING" PER WHAT HBO SAYS. MAX AND RJJ TELL IT MORE LIKE IT IS, RATHER THAN BRING THE "BIAS" TO THE COMMENTATING- HBO KEEPS LEANING TOWARDS ONE GUY OR ANOTHER AND ITS GOTTEN OLD.
It was ****ing hilarious when the point got took off him and everyone at ringside kicked off. Lot of money lost that moment. They were all ****ing screaming for him to save their cash.
I watched it on some german stream with a boring commentator, so I could focus solely on the fight...the ref warned Khan every time he pushed Peterson. it was literally "stop pushing him" "don't push him khan" "stop pushing him, khan" "khan don't push him" "dont push him, fight out, dont push him" "fight out, dont push him" "last warning, dont push him"
They need to get rid of some of the staff. It's like they are preparing the fans for a bad decision in favor of the house fighter every minute of every fight. Boxing will go on no matter who wins and people are growing tired of listening to these over opinionated windbags.
I never thought Lederman would get like these other guys. I think HBO likes their guys acting like douches and Lederman still thinks he has a shot at being in front of the camera more.
merchant's like daughter is married to someone in roach family and lampley does business with roach. they cannot call the fight iimpartially.
I think they were obvious, but he was trying to create space because Peterson led with his head, and very low. The ref allowed Peterson to do whatever he wanted, you gotta look at the replay. Half the time he comes in head down, almost at the belt line. Speaking of belt line, no warning on Peterson for the low blow. See where I'm going. On the flipside ref had plenty of words for the other guy, all night long. This content is protected
HBO needs to fire his old ass. His attempts at one-liners are pathetic and he can barely get out a sentence.
