Where does Lemieux go from here?

    was reading some where he left his long time trainer russ anber he didnt want Lemieux to fight again this year he didnt think he was ready to return

    I saw less than 2 rounds of the fight, but from what I've read Lemieux fought a lot more cautiously than usual last night. Maybe it's a mental thing left over from the Rubio fight where he went for it and gassed himself. The problem is, at the moment his power is all he really has, as his boxing skills are limited and his height and reach are real drawbacks at MW. By all accounts he never let his hands go at all last night. Very odd performance by the sounds of things. The fact that he performed like that despite being in the best shape he's ever been in a nail in the coffin..

    I'd like to see how he does in one more fight against decent level opposition like Rubio. If he fails at that level again I think it would be safe to say he never had what it takes.

    I thought he let his hands go enough, his shots just weren't having the effect they normally do for some reason. He needs to learn how to set up his attacks better to land cleaner. Like you said, right now if he's not KOing guys he doesn't have much else in terms of boxing skills.

    Was he? And still nothing. Worrying for him.

    Russ Anber said the other day that Lemieux has "ABOVE World Class power". Where was it?

    I know its strange. He landed a handful of flush left hooks during the fight(imo his best punch) but Alcine went nowhere.

    Rubio has been world class for almost a decade. Did anyone really expect Lemieux to take him......he's B level as showed yesterday.

    This aint a knock, he's just not champ material at 160. Maybe he can move down and compete since Cotto aint getting no younger and several of the younger top 154 contenders are raw punchers who David might bea able to deal with, but at 160, he's a gatekeeper, fringe contender at the best.

    One good Bclass win over Camacho does not an elite fighter make.:rofl

    Craig McEwan
    Jermain Taylor
    Brian Vera
    Anthony Mundine
    Yuri Foreman
    Rigoberto Alvarez

    I don't think he would win the Taylor fight , but the rest are winnable.

    david has alot of skills still, but he is 22, they need to take a couple of steps back, i thought the fight was a draw, i tought david gased towards the end, he stopped using his upper cut. an it seemed after the 6th, he really didn't want to let his hands go...

    People were criticizing Anber but it's clear that what he said about Lemieux lack of commitment is true. He needs to take his career and training seriously or forget boxing.

    He still only a kid & that was the best fight of last night.

    He might never be a "great" fighter but that was far more entertaining than Khan-Peterson imo

    Win or lose he's always been fun to watch & he isnt finished yet.
