x2 i hope some good comes from this and there is worldwide action to secure fighter safety, it was a WBC trinket contest, surely now the WBC should look at this and demand that any fights for WBC belts should have certain safety measures adn other bodies follow suit? though i get the feeling not much will come of this :-(

    May he RIP

It's always a worry of mine when i see fighters go over there, we moan about our stoppages etc but we've got great people in the St John's Ambulance who provide a great service. Sounds horrible what happened to the lad.

    R.I.P.

Does anyone have an email address for the WBC?

Perhaps we could email them and try and get something done so that all WBC sanctioned fights have appropriate medical provisions in future?

    Not a bad idea.

But one can't help thinking it shouldn't have needed a death for this to be in place already!

Say what you want about the BBB of C, but in the last 20 odd years, there has always been an enquiry over major incidents like this, and a lot of good things have come out of them enquires. Things have improved and that is in part a small tribute to the boxing careers of the Goult's, Watson's, McClellan's and Stone's.

It is always a sad loss when this happens, and you hope if there were mistakes made, the lessons are learnt and Russian boxing comes out of this a safer sport.

The WBC should be brought to account for this tragedy how can they let a fight that they sanction regardless of where in the world it takes place go ahead without a predetermined level of medical supervision in attendance . It sounds like this was an act of corporate manslaughter too me, they are ok taking there sanction fees for such fights and that's probably where their interest in a lot of fights ends.2011 and we are still having fighters loose their lives coz of negligence , what a disgrace . RIP Roman Simakov.

That would be very hard to prove. The best chance of proving corporate manslaughter (if such a crime exists in the Russian Federation), is to take the local boxing commission to court, rather than the WBC which is technically an outside NPO (Non profit Organization)...

On a completely unrelated topic, have you seen Senor Suliman's home?
