Add the questionable job by the American referee and we're back at square one - in no other country local officials dominate major international fights. Can you imagine a German ref and 2 German judges scoring each title fight there? And all-Japanese board in a Nishioka fight? Canadian judges for Lucian Bute? The problem in the US is the state athletic system which requires each judge to be licenced in the given state the fight is happening, that means no matter if there are dozens of international IBF/WBC/WBO/WBA judges with dozens of world title fights experience, due to licencing and travel costs you see mostly US judging in fights involving an American fighter vs. a visitor. This is unacceptable.

Peterson did a fine job. Deductions makes his win acceptable. But would we have the same outcome with a neutral ref and 3 neutral judges? :think

He was right to deduct points, he kept pulling petersons head down and push him.
I dont mind the scorecards, could have gone eitehr way.

I just found out that the round in which Khan rocked Peterson and had him badly hurt (10 was it?) was awarded to Peterson by those two judges. Oh, and I also didn't know that the referee was from DC, too.

Not making excuses here. Just thought it was interesting. Can't wait for the rematch.

Peterson did come back very hard that round after that, it was a very close round.

It's a two way game, one rushes in with his head, other makes sure the heads don't clash and makes his distance when the opponent roughs him up. Khan didn't fight dirty, deductions are for dirty moves. Of course the Bradley sand Wards get away with those...

Question remains... would we have the same outcome with a neutral set of judges?

The "neutral judge"(who by the way is an American citizen), scored 9 rounds for Khan. The two "non neutral" judges had it 6 rounds a piece.

round 10 was very close.. khan rocked peterson but didn't do anything else so i scored it for peterson due to him also scoring some good shots and pressure.. either way it was a close fight and those moaning about the decision are clutching at straws

Come on this is boxing a sport where you punch people in the head, yet the ref takes points off for a little push :patsch

I scored it 8-4, coulda been 7-5, genuinely close rounds, scoring differences are expected. But what do you know, like magic the two Americans end up scoring it for their boy, while the Puerto Rican scores it for Khan.

The judge who had Khan winning...115-110...was he even watching the fight? Giving 3 rounds to Peterson is just a joke. Though Neutral judges...in this sport?...ha!

I think many people woud say 7-5 for Khan was fair. It seems to me that the non neutral judges did a beter job than the "neutral" judge. Questioning a scorecard based solely on nationality is ridiculous. Furthermore, at least one of those point deductions were warranted. No way in hell was that KD a real KD. So in the end, it all evened up anyway. The ref cost both guys a point. Of course, people here whine about pretty much every fight.

Go back and watch round 4 and tell me how that incompetent a-hole scored it for Khan.... 115-110 is a joke, he also scored the close rounds for the running man, rounds 10 & 11, he was with Khan all the way, luckily the other two judges, didn't come to see a greyhound chasing a rabbit...

Personally I don't even mind too much that Peterson won, classy guy, either way type of fight, had the other guy winning, can live with it. But when you see the officials list before fight and you end up getting what you expected then it's time to open this thread and say no American should score an American vs. International fight in the US just like no British or German or Canadian officials should handle their version of these fights.

It's only fair, is it not?
