His two highest profile fighters show a complete lack of defense, and they lack of inside fighting ability. Against live opposition, they both come up short. Yes, I'd say he's overrated.

Dont think he is overated .

    Maybe over worked .

He has had three big fights in less than a month?? and his health isnt great . It takes its toll.

IMO that was a case of the fighter abandoning the game plan more than a failure on the trainer's part. Roach doesn't seem to have a defensive or in-fighting game plan. But Mayweather Sr is somewhat overrated in a what have you done for me lately kind of way, but you can't deny his past accomplishments.

How do you explain Pacquiao's change from a one-dimensional aggressive fighter to a defensive/aggressive fighter with respectable movement?

many of us weren't ever fans of roach

there's been more than just one bad night

    Linares got his AZZ kicked

    emmanuel got his AZZ kicked

    Amir lost

if we just have to blame the fighters, I guess roach chooses to train 3 idiots

Pacquiao's fought plenty of live opponents, and most of the time, he emerges victorious.

why would we balme roach or his fighters? linares was doing great until he engaged demarco and was cut badly. pacquiao won. khan arguably won.

try handling as many fighters as how raoch does it with his worsening condition and i bet you could not write as many idiotic post in ESB.

Yeah, totally. Khan and Pac should sack him off, and hire someone from ESB. We've got plenty of genuises on this forum.

How many trainers do you see training a sh#t ton of boxers while suffering from Parkinson's, while at the same time being called Trainer of the Year 5x? That says a lot about how great Roach is. :deal
It's hilarious to see people on this forum think they can do better as a trainer than a HOF trainer.

Not in the slightest, His inside game is weak though, thats true, if Khan had better inside game, he wouldn't have needed to push Peterson so much. Then again, he wanted Khan to play to his strengths, which is box from the outside. Khan should have punched his way out rather than push his way out.

Yes he is overrated. He was taught by the goat trainer in Eddie Futch, but he doesn't teach the good defense and old school tricks that he was taught. He teaches the basic defense of putting your guard move and get out of the way with your feet, sort of amateurish really. But his fighters are talented offensively.
