Khan lacks real power at 140 to gain full respect, he needs to move upto 147

I feel his shots are often off balance from his jittery footwork from his twig legs pitter patter don't warn or horde off fighters both Maidana and Peterson walked him down. With bigger legs he would have better balance and then can plant and land better shots.

Khan needs to move around less and fight it out more and try land more hurtful punches to gain more respect.

I think at 147 he can do that, that's why I say he lacks power at 140.

Khan legs still look like sticks, speed with more weight= KO power, the same type of results as Pacman moving up in weight, Pacman was the same as Khan in the sense at lower weight was not a KO artist, look at Pacman's legs, Khan legs look like twigs compared to his.

Fast hand speed with added weight from a strong base as in legs from a foundation should have better results, Khan lacks a strong foundation, base from his legs.

I ask how a guy from the age of 17-25 only gain 5 pounds in fighting weight.

Khan for his frame and height should be fighting at 147 now.

Moving up in weight also means guys hit harder, and Amir will always have a glass chin:verysad

To this date Khan has not even been dropped at 140, Khan has no problems with his chin now, clearly he was drained at 135, and is now becoming like that at 140.

At 147 Khan will have even a better chin due to better hydration and more muslce.

Yea, it's a trade off. Adding weight doesn't always increase punch resistance, and he hasn't been fighting knock out artists @ 140 either.

Sucks when the biggest puncher you've faced has only been Maidana, and even he had you one ***** street for an entire round.

Pac was KTFO dudes at the lower weights....Above 135lbs, he only KTFO Hatton, and stopped a zombie Oscar, who retired on his stool and Cotto, which was a mercy stoppage.

I think he'll be stronger at 147 also. But i think he has pop but just lacks technique. He seldom sits down on his punches and he's always off balanced and punching on the move. Proper positioning makes a huge difference.

But adding weight to fast handspeed fighters should.

Adding any weight/force to Khan's already fast handspeed should have good results.

True, he's got more to worry about with his technical issues. He's not a naturally big man, he's lanky and there will be quite a few welter's that'll be able to bully him into position with more regularity than Peterson did.

I agree with you. Khan can be a beast at 147, and adding some weight would help him sit on his punches more. I think he's somewhat of a natural puncher, but his frame is too wiry to capitalize on it.

If he sat down on more shots he could get his opponents respect and it would discourage them capitalizing on his one true weakness: pressure.

As I am trying to explain he don't plant his feet well to get off real power shots, if he has stronger legs and plants his feet better with better balance he could turn more power into his shots, he must know deep down right now I can't hurt these guys so I just need to hit and move.

Khan needs to fight it out and let them know who is boss in there or at least make them respect his power, Maidana and Peterson at times did not.

You know if he does that, his output goes way down, right?

He is too reliant on his speed, he'd have to change the entire outlook on his way of fighting. Not that simple really.

his defence is awful, just awful. moving to welterweight is career suicide for khan. people like Ortiz or Berto will KO him quickly. he got hit way too much against a guy as slow and unskilled as maidana. i say get passed peterson then bradley then ill be convinced hes the best at 140. and if peterson rematch is close again khan better have the balls for a trilogy

Its a balance thing of hit and move, there should come a point where you should stand your ground at times and get off, or have the power to catch them coming in and hurt them.

With new powers come new responsibilities :D

Khan will have to work it out.
