Great fight. Argue about result. but the commentary was way better. Steve Collins owned Johnny Nelsons ass. Stopped that conman on all his bs. Barry jumping in with straight points and Steve dominating with brutal honesty. Love the way theres not love on the panel, talk your mind and call it as you see it .
Loved it when they both put Nelson straight. Collins was right in saying give both fighters credit and this didn't lessen anyone, as Johnny seemed to be implying. Nelson really thought Peterson was trash.
I always thought McGuigan was good to give a boxers honesty in his views but Collins is just a breath of fresh air followed by a hurricane. Natural but blows you away.
I was waiting for McGuigan to take a swing at Collins in the postfight studio. "Interrupt me one more time son...."
McGuigan will interupt to make his point but when Steve makes his point he'll make it. Class panel if sky or boxing can keep them together.
Collins was class last night, basically said what everyone watching was thinking and pulled no punches, Nelson seemed a bit too keen on sucking Amir's balls. Also before the break when Dave Darts said "Back after the break for post fight analysis from our team here" and it showed Nelson, McGuigan and Collins did anyone see McGuigan's huge grin on his face ? hahaha, think he was quite happy Khan lost tbh.
i was actually surprised they weren't all jumping on the khan got robbed bandwaggon. adam smith on twitter actually was giving much more credit to peterson, which was also a pleasent suprise. deep down, i think sky team don't really like team khan.... it's just a feeling i get. i think they want to setup a big clash at 147 once khan moves up and kell brook scrounges a title from somewhere
Really? I had to lower the volume to be honest. Jim Watt's voice just does my head in. Constantly repeating the same thing and the worst thing is, he seems to work out what he wants to say 20 seconds before he says it. So by the time he's finished, something else has happened. His favourite line seems to be: "Yep I thought this was going to happen and it is." And surprisingly for the first time ever I actually agreed with Johnny Nelson back in the studio. Barry McGuigan was disagreeing with him for no reason lol. Steve Collins is a quality voice to have though. I did like how Sky didn't jump on the "blame the ref" bandwagon though. They were fair in their analysis of the fight which was nice for a change. Sounded like they were more rooting for Peterson over Khan anyway lol
That's been the problem with SKY. There has been way too many conformists on that show. It needs more of a happy medium with someone who's not gonna be afraid to voice on unpopular opinion. If you aint listening to someone like Piper who is boring and has no personality, and is not very insightful. Your listening to Nelson's biased cliche ridden BS.
Mcguigan and Collins were great. Barry always is, one of my favourite pundits. He gets it wrong sometimes but he was excellent on Saturday/Sunday. Collins surprised me, but he was a great addition overall. It was good to see that he didn't throw anyone under a bus.
Yep, there's a lot to this. You listen to them for a few minutes and it's hard to make out if they actually have an opinion. Collins was excellent; McGuigan constantly interrupts and dominates but it does seem to be out of sincere enthusiasm, at least. Froch will make the best ex-boxer pundit of all if he wants to, IMO. I know it's not a popular opinion but I like Jim Watt a lot - I thought he had it spot on.
Nelson was basically saying Peterson was pish and Khan threw the fight away, which was entirely unfair. Barry and Collins were right to pick him up on it. Nelson has never said anything of any worth since he joined Sky's pundit team. He should have been fired after his shameful love-in for James DeGale.
