Not trying to be a smart ass, but in those instances the word "Phillipine" is being used as a qualifier---meaning it is being used as an adjective. That is the reason why it's spelled without the "s". It is grammatically correct to say "The Phillipines" as singular as it denotes a country. It is also correct to say "The Phillipine Islands", as it also denotes a country but the word "Phillipine" is functioning as a qualifier, ie as an adjective to the word "Islands".

Tebow is a hypejob!!!! Fluking out miracles, he plays like **** for entire halves and is nowhere near a top rated QB. His lucky streak will come to a devastating end soon.

A hypejob has to be exposed at some point. Until that happens, keep on crying hater.

Yes, but isn't it also used to denote a chain of islands? Hence, it's plural form? Like "The Maldives", "The Keys" (Florida Key Islands), "The Grenadines".
