He is with Arum, but isn't his contract about to expire?

I think so, yeah, and this could be the loophole that Team Floyd may explore with Cotto at the convention.

This fight makes sense for Floyd, certainly (Cotto is a big draw and Floyd needs a big-selling PPV partner). And for Cotto, except that it might not work if Cotto wants to stay with Arum.

Ahha, :good. That make the match-up that more realistic.

You know Floyd looks at the figures other fighter bring to the table. Cotto has increased his fan base, but will they have to fight in MSG to garantee that his fan base shows up?

Let me say this: In my opinion, Arum will absolutely attempt to block this fight from happening. So that Cotto does not possibly lose and thus diminish his value for a potential Pac II fight.

We'll see how things play out.

Yeah, but if his contract with Top Rank is up at the end of this month, what could Arum do to block the fight?

Y won't Mayweather fight Cotto @ 154, he fought DLH there no? I'm sure he would do it @ the full weight so that IF he beats Cotto he will say he did without a catch weight unlike Pacman...

    Just a thought..

He will tell Cotto two things:

    * If you fight PBF and lose, you will lose out on a lot more money for a possible Pac rematch

    * If you fight Mayweather, you and I are done (in slightly different language, of course)

It's a leverage move. This is Arum vs Mayweather via proxy (Cotto). It's a smart play by Floyd, and it could work.

If it does not work, then Floyd may end up facing like a Robert Guerrero on May 5. Obviously, this would be a much better outcome for Floyd, on two levels -- bigger fight, and Arum gets hurt if Mayweather fights and beats Cotto.

don't want to see this ****

Cotto(e) got beat bad the last time he fought an elite fighter

in the meantime he has beat Yuri, shot Mayorga, and margoe, who has been a nobody ever since he was forced to fight legit

beat someone with a pulse first

:think, I see where you're coming from. Very interesting, I know Cotto would love a chance at avenging his other loss to Pacquiao.

But a fight against May, that is big too.

    yep, he isn't

if he fights Cotto(e) next, at least Cotto(e) looked good winning coming into a fight with Mayweather. Not even emmanuel was able to do that despite having Cotto(e) as his best win in recent years.:verysad
