I'm just pointing out that Margarito is a way better win than Barker, you really haven't given much of an argument.

And remember how slick Quintana was when he met Cotto. Heck, he went on to outbox PWill. So how good of a win is PWill, a guy whose best win is Margo and got outboxed by Quintana?

Come to think of it, Dz's best wins were decisions over Santos, who beat Marg by a point in PR, and Julio, who was schooled by Quintana.

The casinos? It was 2/1; Fans were split, though I believe they were edging towards a Foreman defeat because Cotto was "shot" and Foreman was "all wrong" for him.

Mosley and Pacquiao are ATG's though with the offense to nullify Margarito. He still fought the same as he always did. Cotto's face was largely irritated by scuff marks, and his skin has always been sensitive, moreso since the first fight. Doesn't tell us much about Margarito's condition; he fought similar to the way he always did. How would a prime Margarito do against the versions of the same 3 fighters he fought? Very similar, I believe. Cotto was not off balance nor hunching over and vulnerable to uppercuts, and those that did land didn't seem to bother him. Margarito's eye only closed after Cotto repeatedly landed. Say what you want about Margarito, the point is that Cotto showed a significant series of technical improvements. Nobody is really arguing his performances at 154 are the shining points of his resume.

Despite the differences in height, Cotto could easily emulate some of the elements Barker had success with. Barker didn't chase Martinez, he forced him to lead. Martinez is much less comfortable doing so. Making the taller, rangier fighter give up his height is one way Cotto can continually land his jab (along with his improved lateral movement). He's done this to taller fighters before, and his timing has to be at least as good as Barker's, who is a good fighter but not nearly as dynamic. Cotto's defense is also more dynamic than Barker's, who was static behind a high guard; Cotto has much better head movement. Cotto, forcing Martinez to give up his height, can keep his improved guard tight while timing his advances with straight punches and body work; his offensive arsenal is also superior to that of Barker's.

Cotto has never been the real lineal champion and number 1, Martinez is. Martinez wins over Williams and Pavlik are probably better than any of Cotto's wins as Williams beat Prime Cement Margarito after all

You're right, Cotto definitely has a better resume.

But if they fight Sergio beats the **** out of him

It was a vacant title. The title had no legitimacy. To add credibility to his claim as a 154 pound champion he will need to face multiple top contenders or unify which he has not done. He us one of the best in the weight class but there is no way he beats Lara.

Cotto has a better resume. Doesn't necessarily make him a better fighter.

    What does that matter?

Cotto is probably scared to fight someone he has a 5 year age advantage on.

The topic is about resumes', not who would beat who. Cotto has the better resumes'. Yes, Sergio would probably KO Cotto, but that doesn't change whose resumes' is better.

I don't think anyone on here would rather see Floyd vs Cotto over Floyd vs Sergio. We all know which is the better fight.

But the quality of resumes' still stands. Cotto's is better.

I'm sorry, but I must have missed the part where this topic was based on the idea of who is a better opponent for Floyd or even slightly connected to him in any way aside from your typically inane post on the first page. As far as I can tell, that's something you you just pulled out of your ass.
