Bernard Hopkins ruined Chad Dawsons chance of being a Star

Dawson was never a star in waiting,Mayweather and Pac was.They were kicking ass before they got to DHL. He just put them over the hump and they never looked back. Dawsons career before Hopkins was lackluster. He had promise but he never lived up to the expectations of his trainers or fans. If Hopkins was faking then it was Dawson who gave him the out with that bodyslam move. He needs to catch on fire and start knocking people out. He needs to knock Pascal out in good fashion and catch Bute moving up and check him. Then he will be on his way.:bbb:bbb:bbb

 

The WBC forced an immediate rematch after Hopkins-Pascal, screwing Dawson over who had a rematch clause to fight Pascal, but after Hopkins-Dawson where was the immediate rematch demanded by the WBC? They just refused to accept the official decision and let Hopkins keep his belt after a TKO2 loss. When these big promoters like GBP get in bed with sanctioning bodies, boxing ain't nothing but a sham. It's only going to get worse, as this corruption is becoming more and more prevalent and brazen, they don't even try to hide it anymore. Unfortunately for Dawson he may never get another opportunity, unless Bute, Froch or Ward move up or he moves down to SMW.

Being flamboyant and entertaining should not be a criteria for star power but it helps a long way. Of course you can't just be that and can't back it up with skills in the ring. If Ali had the personality of Dawson, I don't think he would be rated as highly today.

Actually, is not even that he is boring, it just seemed as if he was so dense I can't see how anybody would like to follow him. The interviewer after the fight asked him some really straight forward questions and he totally did not seem to understand and went into a conversation of his own. He should just do some prep on how to answer straight forward questions after the fight. Or he can pretend to be mad and say some wild arse **** on tv. That would probably be easier. lol

What you might say is true about B Hop and Oscar, B Hop is not Oscar. Despite being a 'star' B Hop is not much loved mainly due to his style of fighting. Can't see how B Hop can make anyone a star. He makes most people that fight him look **** win or lose lol

I don't know why anybody would want a fight with Hopkins really. He always makes everybody look bad.

 

I doubt he ever gets to fight on PPV again, but it's his own fault frustration after 2 rounds....

Agree with everything and part of what I've been saying all along,but he will never,ever be a "star" and that is his own responsibility,not Hopkins'.
The majority of people weren't saying straight after the fight"Poor Chad,he acted so honourably there,Bernard a baaaad man"
He's a better boxer than most can ever dream of being,but he has zero public appeal and he's not at a weight where there is a glut of "stars" waiting to get put to sleep and have their fame grabbed by Chad.
At no point did I ever question his ability.

 

Do you honestly believe Chad would have become a big PPV star even if he ground out a points win over a 46 year old which was by no means a given?
There was nothing to suggest Dawson was clearly going to win that fight,nothing.

 

He has plenty of time to become a star, on his resume he has Glen Johnson x 2, Tarver x 2, Adamek, Diacanou, Dawson and Hopkins, he looked like he would dominate Hopkins and maybe stopped Dawson, now he still has potential fights with the top LHWs and any of the SMW moving up. Some just have to pay their dues longer than others, it was the same way for Bernard.
