Steve Smoger Appreciation Thread...

Smoger is my favorite ref. He lets the fighters decide the outcome. With contracts these days, the guys know they are in for a rumble when they decide he's the ref.

It's no coincidence that Smoger has been the ref for several FOTY and FOTY contenders.

 

too bad he only works the East coast (and most of that in the Tri-state area).

 

Steve Smoger may very well be the best referee of today. I think he is a great ref and I am definitely boarding this appreciation train.

 

Smoger's the best there is IMO.

 

I like Bayless a lot. Generally flawless. Smogers up there with him though I suppose.

 

These other refs think they're the star of the show, ie Jay Nady.

It wasn't just the fact that he wasn't putting up with Khan's bull**** he was ignoring Peterson's bull**** and was way to involved in the fight.

he's like a great hooker that comes to your hotel room does the deed pick up the cash on the dresser and leaves without a trace. that's how all referees should be.

 

Yep great Ref, he Khan vs Paulie and I ref'ed that fight great, he even after the fight lifted Khan's hand up to the crowd and pointed at Khan to say this guy is a good boxer.

 

Smoger is good, but he ain't no Ernesto Margana.

 

He never rushes in to break fighters apart he lets them work their way out and throw punches on the inside whilst holding and ****. This is his best attribute imo.

 

...I just remembered Smoger was the referee.

He's like a ****ing shadow.

 

Good referee but sometimes lets fighters take too much punishment and doesn't step in quick enough. One particular fight is on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember it.
