    The WBC is absolutely horrible.

Dawson is still young though. He can have some other chances, if he doesn't screw them.

Yeah beating ODLH was the win that boosted him to a ppv megastar, but
Mayweather had been filling up arenas: Gatti, Zab, Castillo, Baldomir, Corales...

Dawson's biggest crowd before Hopkins was Pascal and he came up short (though he probaly would have ko'd Pascal if the fight hadn't been stopped)

Dawson, IMHO, is far too inactive to achieve any real greatness. He's young and hopefully will turn this around and start getting busy. Compared to high activity levels like Old Dawg Hopkins, Dawson seems like a part time boxer.
I still think that Dawson is a habitual underachiever.
At this stage, Dawson isn't ruined yet. Following his rematch with Hopkins, he'll be ruined.

I agree with 100%. There's double standard in this sports and a lot of times they dont even try to hide it.

My bad if I misunderstood, and I don't necessarily disagree about being a "star", but a win over Hopkins (especially after him beating Pascal for the belt) could have been huge for his career.

No,you make a fair point,I just feel that despite his ability(and he has it in abundance) he is too surly and his moody demeanour will have no appeal to anyone other than those who really know their boxing and are "serious" fans
LHW is a ****er of a division to make it big in.Roy Jones always resented the fact that he was never a "star" like De La Hoya and other less talented boxers at the time. For me,it was THAT division that destroyed Roy,and not moving up.He went stale before Ruiz and was also known for being "moody" but that's a whole different thread.
Please understand guys,I think Dawson is an extremely talented boxer, but his attitude, demeanour, inactivity and natural weight(which he can't help) are all factors which I think will prevent him becoming a star in PPV terms.

I should acknowledge here too guys, that in the UK we got the fight for free(well,no PPV anyway) so I understand why a lot of people Stateside are far more angry about what happened.
Easy to comment when you never paid $60

Doubt it. As been said by others, not a very attractive division and Hopkins is no draw. The fight wasn't even originally going to be on PPV.

Heard it got 40k buys in the end.

Maybe they need a Super 6 tournament to fire it up.

No and he doesn't have to be a PPV star Hopkins isn't even a PPV star ..Thats why his fight with Chad only got 40 k ..Hopkins isn't the star he thinks he is ..2 rds is way to early to get a definitive winner but what Hopkins pulled was wrong and robbed Chad of the same oppurtunities he was given before ..

Which is why I don't think this fight is the reason Chad's not a star.
And I did acknowledge it's much easier to remain neutral when you didn't waste $60 on the fight.
It has nothing to do with ability or a lack of it.
