Mayweather has never faced a tall, slick boxer, with a great jab and a long reach. It is the worst possible stylistic matchup. Tommy would pick him apart and KO him; especially this version or Mayweather who is on the downside of his career. There isn't anybody at welter that's giving Tommy any problems.
With Williams lack of defense, no. If Williams walks into Tommy's punches like he did with Segio, I'd be concerned about his health after Hearns hits him.
He could probably rule the roost from 147 to 160. I can't really see anyone having not only the style, but also the proficiency in that style to even trouble him. Dare I'd favour him to stop everybody? There are very few WW's and LMW's that I'd actually favour over Hearns and right now, at this current moment in time. Neither division is particularly strong. The last top WW to have graced boxing that I would favour over Hearns would be Felix Trinidad.
I think Hearns deals with Martinez far easier than people think. If he gets hit by casual crosses by Darren Barker, I can only imagine how bad Martinez would get beat by a focused Hearns who throws that right hand like a damn missile.
Hearns would have beat most before they even got in the ring with him his dimenna and his stare down game over
How? Sugar Ray Leonard said that Tommy Hearns had the fastest hands, the best jab, and the fastest feet of any opponent that he's ever fought. In addition, Floyd is considerably smaller than Hearns, so how do you presume he'll fight Tommy? You think he'll back up all night and essentially run against one of the best fighters at controlling distance of all time? Because, unlike SRL, Floyd often finds himself with his back against the ropes. And if Floyd does try to engage by coming foward against Tommy, do you see him having success that way? Does Floyd even have enough power to make Hearns think twice? I see this as a mid to late rounds KO for Hearns. This is the absolute worst stylistic matchup for Floyd. Floyd isn't trying to fight a tall, slick fighter with a great jab, and he's never faced one in his entire pro career.
Just imagine how much stronger Tommy would be with 24 hours to rehydrate in today's era. I think we forget sometimes how significant that is especially with fantasy matchups like Hopkins , Hagler. If Hagler was around today he would probably box at light middleweight while if Hopkins fought in his era were they weighed in on the day of the fight he may well have boxed at light heavy. I shudder to think how much stronger Tommy would have been in the Leonard fight with that extra 24 hours. Either way I think he beats them all in this era.
No way one dimensional tito would stand a chance, Tommy outboxed SRL for 14 rounds before SR caught up to the fading hitman. He would be the first to KO the limited Tito! you would have to go back to SRL to have some who could beat the Hitman even then I would give him the edge over 12 rounds
Hearns was a master boxer and controlled the distance, but he could get lured into brawls. For being a tall lanky guy he fought tremendously well on the inside and had explosive power similar to Tyson which you dont see in any tall fighters. He couldnt be outboxed not even by Floyd Tommys jab would cause Floyd so many problems so the only way would be to knock him out. Floyd would have trouble countering and would have to go for the ko. Sergio has better chances, is a southpaw, and has a right hook which Tommy like Floyd was always a sucker for. Tommy is a top 5 welter, #1 154lber of all time, and at middleweight still a great MW but somewhere in the top 10.
Baldomir Mayweather who was at his absolute peak could survive early and turn up the heat late to get a close UD....but no one is close. If Floyd was a natural WW and could comfortably rehydrate to 160 or so, I'd favor him..
