Dawson v Hopkins result over turned

    Moments ago at the California Commission meeting in Van Nuys, California, and seven CSAC commissioners voted on the Hopkins/Golden Boy appeal on the Bernard Hopkins vs Chad Dawson bout which was ruled as a TKO win for Dawson after Hopkins was thrown to the canvas and injured a shoulder causing the bout to be stopped. The Commission reversed the TKO win by Dawson and ruled the bout a No Decison.

    Never thought they would actually change it despite it being pretty obvious that the fight ended on a clear foul, am glad boxing got it right for once and made the right decision.

    The Athletic Commission only meet so many times a year so had to wait until the next meeting.

    While I agree the title shouldn't technically be won in that manner, they should have made it mandatory for Hopkins to give a rematch. Title shouldn't be given back to Hopkins because of that without him having to face Dawson again... I like Hopkins but think this was the easiest way for him to retain his title and would be greatly disappointed if he moved on to fight someone else... Although I have a feeling that's what he'll do in order to keep his belt.
