Ongoing 5-year drama between Boxrec's contributors.

If a boxer retires or is retired between rounds (rest period), is it TKO of completed & scored round, or is it TKO of next round??

    RTD not TKO.

    See Tszyu vs Hatton.

RTD was implemented, to hopefully solve the problem, but some still argue it ain't right

Australian regulators rule it TKO of completed round, which I disagree with

Also see Tszyu vs Mitchell 1 - RTD.

    BUT!!!

Tszyu vs Leija - TKO even though he didn't come out after the 6th round...although, as stated on Boxrec, his corner stopped the bout.

Perhaps it is down to whether it's the corner or the doctor who stops the fight (e.g. Cotto vs Margarito 2) = TKO as opposed to the boxer himself refusing to continue = RTD.

Its RTD as you state however prior to this if the fighter or his corner called time it should be TKO next round since the previous round scorecards have been collected and tallied thus made official. Scorecard cannot be revised can they?

Good question mate, doesn't it depend on whether the bell has been rung to start the next round?

Completed and scored round. You can't have been deemed to have inflicted damage in a round that caused a fight to have been stopped where the round hasn't yet started

It should be the last round where punches were thrown that goes into the books

Can't see why anyone would have cause for complaint. RTD seems the most logical answer.

TKO in the last completed round if the bell hasn't sounded for the start of the next, that would make sense, where do I get my bow tie and brill cream for job on the judging panel...lol...

But look at Cotto vs Margo 2 - TKO in the 10th when it was stopped between rd 9 and rd 10.

It should be "TKO after the 9th" as it wasn't RTD.

One of the biffs. IMO, if the bell sounded or not is unknown..call it RTD.

I think it should be the round that just finished

Not sure i like the RTD bit however

If the ref stops the fight it is a TKO

    Dr stops it TKO

if the Corner or the boxer stops it I still think it should be TKO

    with RTD

Do you now have 33 wins 22 by way of Knockout and 2 by way of RTD

between rounds (upto 60secs) is recoirded as previous round stoppage

this is an easy one anton, why would they argue?
