To those arguing about the lawsuit.. Arum said he'd drop it if Mayweather really wants Pacquiao.. So what's the issue with him saying it needs to be dropped?

The issue is whether you believe ANY of it.

 

It's not an issue. Everyone knows the fight won't get signed if that lawsuit is out there. However, some people are trying to claim Mayweather won't even talk to Top Rank until the lawsuit is dropped. That of course makes no sense.

 

Reading what you posted on this thread... that doesn't seem like the argument IMO, it sounds like you're arguing different topics to try and win an argument.. But you and BigReg can continue, just wanted to point out that Floyd has a right to say it needs to be dropped since Arum apparently said it would before Pac fought JMM.

I don't know. Seems pretty focused to me on one topic. Do you believe Floyd when he says he won't negotiate until the lawsuit is dropped. I agree it is something that gets thrown out on the table with everything else if Floyd wants the fight. I'm pretty sure BigReg is one of the guys that claims to know a little law and said it is a BS lawsuit that Pac can't win. (Sorry if I'm wrong on that point BR). I just latched onto this point because I think it is an obvious contradiction to the 'call out' claim. There was one poster that was willing to make a life time bet a while back that this fight wouldn't happen in May. His position was Floyd would find some way out. No one was willing to take him up on that bet. Looks like they would have lost too.

 

You are setting the bar so high that 9/10's of the stuff claimed by Mayweather fans would have to be discarded on this forum then because they weren't video's of him saying it.

This guy wrote something saying he was GOING to talk to Floyd days before this interview and some Floyd supporters were pointing to THAT as proof of whatever it was they were claiming at the time. Pointing out that he hadn't talked to Floyd yet didn't seem to make much difference. Now that he actually interviewed Floyd his words carry less weight? Now you understand where I'm coming from? Of course none of those guys seem to be interested in this thread because they can't have it both ways.

 

I'll tell you what I believe. If Top Rank informed Floyd's team that they wanna negotiate and if a deal is made to make the fight happen then the lawsuit will be dropped. I think Floyd would be happy with that.

The thing that I don't get is why even do the damn lawsuit in the first place and then drop it so easily. Bob Arum and Pac make it seem like they don't even give a damn about it no more.atsch What a waste of time and money. And the blood test. Now there is no problem. Why not just say yes back in 2009? The lawsuit was about Pac's image with the electorate. It is a political gaf for him to drop the suit without a signed contract. That would mean he caved to another Mayweather demand and got nothing for it. This is a new challenge for Arum and I think it gives him some sense of purpose with this 'president maker' that he doesn't get from boxing anymore.

The blood test? I honestly don't know what to believe about that. Pride? Posturing? Dirty? The fact he lost a fight after having one before?

 

Why wouldn't I believe they need to/will drop the lawsuit before anything happens? Arum has said he'd do it if Floyd is serious about fighting Pac, why wouldn't Floyd take that? How is it an obvious contradiction when ARUM said they'd drop the lawsuit? Arum says he'll drop it, Floyd says okay you need to drop it, but somehow that's contradicting him wanting to fight Pac? :huh

So everything you've posted in this thread has been based on you not believing Mayweather's telling the truth about the lawsuit needing to be dropped? When Arum said he'd drop it to get the fight made?

 

No. What I posted was from an interview where it is claimed Floyd has said he won't begin negotiations UNTIL the suit is dropped. A precondition to negotiating.

 

Ok so are you claiming that's an issue although Arum said they'd drop it if Floyd wants to fight? Or are you saying you don't believe Floyd when he said that?
