Ok we all know where the pre-fight build-up would lead. Mayorga talking more **** than ever probley leading into a press conference brawl along the way... We also know where the fight itself would go. It would be an absolute war from the get go. Here Mayorga has a cast iron jaw that would even make Margo cringe, an unorthodox fighting style and 1 punch KO power. He would try and blitz Hearns from the opening bell. We all know the Hitman's arsenal and he is without a doubt one of the hardest right hand hitters of all time and a master boxer capable of dictating distance like no other. His only achilles heel could be stamina and chin. (Even though getting stopped by Hagler and SRL is nothing to be ashamed of):bbbBe ready for fight of the year right here....while it lasts. I personally think Mayorga would get ruined by Hearns after giving a good account of himself.
Mayorga actually does have a chance imo, he is so reckless andwild that when he catches hearns he could maybe shake him up, I do favour hearns greatly though, think he stays away a few rounds while throwing bombs at mayorga then stops him in round 4/5.
If Hearns can survive an early onslaught, he'd win without a doubt. He might not even lose by exchanging early; it's not clear who could take whose punch better. Tommy has been hit by comparable hitters and gotten hurt, but rarely went down from a single hard shot; but I feel Mayorga has never been hit with anything like what Hearns could bring.
Basically this. Mayorga's only chance would be to rush Hearns early and try and nail him with something huge (like that overhand right he caught Forrest with in their first fight.) If Mayorga is able to catch and hurt Hearns early, I don't think he escapes the fight. Of course, if Mayorga is unable to take Hearns out inside the first 4 rounds with his wild bum rush assault, I think the punches Hearns lands on Mayorga while Mayorga is charging in start to catch up with him and slow down his attack enough for Hearns to get some breathing room, and once that happens Hearns starts to wear down Mayorga and probably stops him somewhere between the 6th or 8th.
fuking unreal thread. Forrest was laying a whooping on Mayorga in that first fight before a momentary lapse in mental concentration had him reeling ass-wards toward the ropes. someone like Hearns would cave his face in at the start of the first round.
My God, if Hearns IS able to get breathing room and land at will, Mayorga will NEVER be the same again. I'd fear for his health.:verysad
Seriously? just because Hearns never had the best chin, doesn't mean any fighter with relative power would have stopped him. Tommy would exterminate him
Hearns inside a round. Mayorga was too limited to even have the slightest puncher's chance with Hearns. Way too limited.
The major difference I see between Hearns and Forrest is their movement. Neither man looked like a natural but Tommy could box off the back foot and move well laterally. Forrest backs up in the lines and is forced to the ropes where a brawler like Mayorga can bomb away. Hearns KO8, but Mayorga does better than some would expect.
I dont care how wild is Mayorga Hearns wins this for sure, and he will not take punches with hands down against Hearns believe me!
