He did a great job trying to get Roy Jones killed against Dennis Lebedev.

Wayne Kelly out of New York is also in the Smoger-style type of reffing. Both are outstanding and let the boxers fight it out without interference.:good

Just got done watching the Cotto-Marg II fight... he did a good job in there to let the fighters fight out of the breaks.. but it's not like either fighter was holding a lot either... Smogger did a good job not to spoil the fight though.

Side note: Cotto clearly won the fight up until the stoppage but there will always be that "What If?!?!" about whether Marg's eye being closed shut stopped him from possibly making a comeback.... Margarito was making a late push in the fight and Cotto was slowing down... we will never know if the fight would have ended the same like in their first fight.... Big props for Cotto though... he moved very well in the early to mid rounds and boxed beautifully. Only issue I had was when Cotto would just cover up and let Margo land 2-3 short uppercuts.... the damage of those punches do add up .

He just loves his job and brings a lot of affection and compassion. Doesn't make him gay. Even if he is gay, it doesn't make him a lesser ref. For all we know it may make him a better ref. He's a great ref and everyone in the sport respects him.

Whenever I think of Smoger I think of Edison Miranda getting basically murdered by Kelly Pavlik.

Smoger was Horrible in the margarito cotto fight,
he let goatto mash his potato head into margaritos bad eye all night

i can just imagine Ward getting away with headbutting froch on the nose and breaking it(no warnings) and then targetting the nose the rest of the fight
and then after the fight going, i rly didnt mean to hit him on the nose
i was just doing a maneuvre etc..

smoger sucks! get TonyWeeks instead :deal

Agree. I think Bayless is quicker of hand and foot and has better head movement too

I prefer Tony Weeks but Smoger is a great ref as well.

The fight is AC & Smoger lives in AC. So I guess it was a no brainer, with such I high profile fight to end the tournament...get the best!

He's actually a municipal court judge during the day! He even believes in justice in the ring.

It's Smoger or Bayless or I don't care. Weeks is very good as well tho. But Smoger is the man on the East Coast, none batter.

Very happy to hear he's doing Ward/Froch. At least you know he won't be out there trying to be the star of the show like some other refs.
