At it's worst, it can get bad. But in general, he circles out and creates space pretty effectively. Considering he has a split guard and was scared of getting knocked the **** out against more than a few opponents, his footwork as a defensive tool is at least decent. It's flawed, but it's his primary form of not getting hit. Let's not discredit Peterson now by pretending Khan isn't worth a damn.

Pacquiao's footwork is very good. He can't cut off the ring, but he can do pretty much anything else and change the angle any which way (as long as he's not fighting Juan Manuel Marquez who can match him at angles, and even then resembles a shaolin gazelle at times.)

Khans defensive footwork is nothing but atrocious im sorry its horrible.
He gets away with it because hes so fast and well conditioned but its absolutely terrible.

That said SR is a crackhead and needs to stfu, all he ever did was train his nephew for a little but most of that is down to Roger not him.

Khan and Linares have very good jabs, and both Linares and Pac have very accepteble footwork.

Add to that Roach on his worst day is about 5x the trainer that SR can dream to be.
Which is probably easy by showingup ON TIME for trainings and actual FIGHTS.

Listening to SR talk about training is like listening to Dwyer about predictions... due to the words they use you think they have somewhat of a clue but if you put them together in context and its clear they are idiots.

Would Khan's superb headlocking ability be considered defensive?

This disqualifies you from posting... Sr. is a Sr. because he has a Jr. also named Floyd Mayweather...so what nephew did he train? Khan didn't use his jab to keep Peterson off of him and Linares jab didn't keep Demarco with a huge gash in his face from coming back to stop him.

Christ i got Roger and SR mixed in my head when i wrote it.
Just replace training his nephew with son, everything else is still entirely valid.
    Excuse me for miswording something.

Why are people mentioning Bernard, Jamez, and Oscar? roach did zero in their development.

    Khan's footwork:

On the other hand, I do like his jab. I'm glad Roach has him using it much more these days. Khan actually has one of the better jabs around at the moment, so dunno what Floyd Sr is trying to say. He has a better point in regard to the defensive flaws.

So the reason that De La Hoya with his budget to have any trainer in boxing chose Mayweather, and stuck with him, is??
Unless of course youre more of a boxing authority that DLH?

We can Laz, it could be used so much better. It could be a real stiff, 'get tha **** outta my grill' type jab.
