If you could be, would you be a Journeyman Boxer?

It's a thankless job, I would imagine.

How much does a Journeyman earn a year? If it was very good I'd consider it, but it'd have to be £100k +

It's interesting looking at Peter Buckley's record though. My favourite one is on the 18th September 2009, he lost 80-72 to Stuart Green. Obviously such a close 8 point fight because they had a rematch just 9 days later

 

its a tough way to make a living but fair play to them they keep boxing alive and kicking

 

Yep. Without journeymen we'd only get competitive, well matched fights all the time. Who the **** would want that?









But still. You do have to respect a lot of these guys for their work in the sport.

Journeymen are essential for prospects development. What do you want? Debutants thrown in with 30 fight proffesionals?

 

I'm only joking really. I understand the hard work and travelling that journeymen do to keep so many shows going. They really are essential with the way boxing works :good

 

No, I got offered a few years back to go pro and i turned it down when basically i was being fed to lions really i was young lad 18 and thought i be better off not doing it as i wouldn't sell loads of tickets and felt like i'd be like Tony Pace a lad being put in to hard to early. I watched Deakin the other day and he's punchy as **** and i'm glad i didn't do it for a quick pound note.

Buckley had a unique defensive style. Not your average journeyman (neither was Saul Montana)

But yes, I wouldn't be afraid to give it a go, certainly when you see some of these jokers that fall down from barely a punch and know you'e taken better I bet most of us are lying if they say they've never said 'I could do better than that'.

I respect everyone that gets in the ring, but run way, throw a few jabs, hold on for dear life for a coupla hundred quid? We're all lying if we said we wouldn't gie it a go.

Only if i was good enough to not take serious beatings and had what it took to know how to lose. But no one goes into the game to be a journeyman, so no.

A good journeyman can earn better than most fighters with the exception of the top guys in the country.

 

id find it hard getting beat most weeks, it would be a pride thing for me, ive got a big ego and dont take comind 2nd very well as the family found out on sunday over a game of monopolyatsch
