In the next 8 hours or so im planning on watching this trilogy (need my daily fix of boxing oe else I'll go mad ) and have heard its up there with the best from several people. Just how close are these fights to the more legendary trilogies such as Gatti-Ward, Morales-Barrera, Bowe-Holyfield etc.

I don't follow the smaller guys as much as I should and have only ever heard about Vasquez-Marquez (four fights) and Zaragoza-Banke as great multiple fight rivalries. Is there any more I should be aware of?

    Thanks a lot

I recommend u 2 not watch Ramirez vs Whitaker #1 & #2 , unless u want 2 judge 4 yourself who won . It really shows what Whitaker was all about : escaping of harm's way without doing anything .
Do watch Ramirez vs Rosario 1&2 , quite action packed .

Banke-Zaragoza 1 was a great fight. I didn't score it so I don't wanna say 100% but it looked to me not far of a draw. Zaragoza showed great heart in pulling away (officially) in the last 3 rounds after that knockdown. Banke should have done more to capitalise, I guess he shot his load in the 9th. Banke also at times forgot the body which would have been useful against a guy in so many wars. Great fight, its a shame Zaragoza didn't hit harder. His crisper punches meant he landed the cleaner shots throughout, but Banke's aggression was very effective at points in the fight.

I now have a new fight to add to my most favorite fights. How many times will you see a fighter like Zaragoza did get up from a hard knockdown with about 4 cuts on his face and one shut eye, yet come forward swinning? Absolutely awesome fight, pure action, had evreything you could want from a fight. Zaragoza decidedd to stand more and paid for it with the cuts, but still landed great shots.

You could see just how effective Banke was when he had someone in front of him, landed much more clean shots than in the first fight. I can't think of many fighters who have ever shown the heart of what zaragoza did in this fight.

Zaragoza was one HELL of a fighter. Thanks for reminding me of that, I'm going to watch one of his fight after work. I think he passed the torch to Morales, during their fight, as the most bad ass man in boxing.

Haha for sure. I've only seen him fight Morales and Fenech before this so I never saw him closer to his prime. I'm halfway through his 3rd fight with Banke and when he has a opponent at distance he can box very well. Plus I thought he was great against Morales, I think he shocked Morales with his accuracy.

I suppose thats a better way of putting it :thumbsup

I've got Morales's career set and from what I've seen of his pre-Zaragoza fights his opponents had little to offer so I presumed he was a little startled by a Zaragoza who started fast (from what I recall, haven't seen it in a while). But I ain't gonna argue that Morales has a defence.

The Third fight was not as good as the first two but still a decent scrap. Zaragoza realised his mistake from the 2nd fight and kept on his toes. Banke was kept at a distance where he was mostly ineffective. I don't know if Banke was gunnshy or past his best but he looked much worse than he did in the first two fights.

Know Banke contracted AIDS, BLH. Any idea if he's still alive?

He is still alive and doing well. Shows up at boxing functions around the south-land.
