Floyd for one can beat him any way he wants, you are seriously overrating Khan!

 

He slips well in the middle of the ring, just not that good going back or on the ropes.

 

if khan is close enough to land, floyd is close enough to land one of his hooks, he leaps in behind them, the idea of YOU laughing at one of my posts is absurd.

 

I can't shake the feeling that Khan will get sparked once he starts fighting on the inside. It takes a certain kind of fighter to be effective fighting on the inside, I don't think Khan is that kind of fighter.

His problem is he's not physically strong enough to stop guys getting in close in the first place. His punches aren't strong enough to back someone up, or even halt them from coming in. When his opponent is inside, Khan stops working. He stands there with his hands in a high guard which allows the uppercut in all night long. He hasn't the technique(doesn't sit down on 'em) or power to do damage with short punches on the inside, so there's no deterrent to an opponent getting in close and throwing what he likes. That'll never change. As far as I can see, he can work on his defence on the inside and that's about it. But then again, Freddie Roach doesn't concentrate on that with any of his fighters as far as I know. If Khan truly wants to improve on the inside, he'll need a different trainer. But I suspect they'll try to scrape a win against Peterson and from that point on try to avoid good inside fighters instead.

Thats my point right there, Khan needs to move upto 147, where I think his power should improve to gain respect or hault someone coming in.

You can make a zillion "ifs" for all kinds of fighters. Khan is just not that good, relative to what people hope/expect him to be. He has flawed footwork and balance, isn't accurate, his defense consists of covering up and staying away rather than skillful slipping and parrying of the incoming (which makes it much easier to counter since you're in range). Rather than throw meaningful combinations, you know, where punch creates an opening and the next one exploits the opening, he largely throws little arm flurries without much leverage or accuracy behind it.

Most of all, he doesn't appear to be a fluid, adapting fighter in the ring. He fights like a programmed robot. Some fighters just have a knack for boxing and pick up techniques/skills better. They're more "natural" when it comes to boxing. Khan may be able to beat most top fighters in a footrace, or punches from point A to point B quicker, but judging by the way he fights, he probably doesn't pick up on boxing techniques better than a lot of world class fighters.

People are just going to be let down if they expect this future ATGness out of Khan. He is what he is, and is unlikely to ever be a whole lot more.

 

But the opponents will be bigger and stronger too, which cancels out any gain and he's back to square one. :huh

 

I disagree, Khan frame and size is perfect for a 147 fighter, Khan will be a monster at that weight.
