    Round 2

Simpson is mostly being held out by the long 1-2 and double jabs of Selby. They hook together while stepping around each other and Simpson lands well. Selby walks him back with long reaching left and right hooks under the elbows and straight jabs and rights up top. Selby is inching in and out, popping a few shots here and there. Simpson times a good hook up by Selby's temple but isn't making much contact overall. Hook-2 by Selby, blocked.

    20-18 Selby

Selby does have that habit of squaring up and leaving himself vulnerable.

    Round 3

Selby steps around in slow circles, using his easy-going long-legged stroll while jabbing and flurrying straight at Simpson. The high guard of Simpson is catching most jabs but he isn't breaking out of it much. A few bashing hooks up over the top but Selby is able to rock back with them and take them mostly on the arms. Selby now walks Simpson back into a corner and tries to drill with straight rights but Simpson wriggles forward through them and ties him up. They circle in the middle of the ring and Selby keeps popping the 1-2 while Simpson tries to time him with a big line drive right hand (always missing). Clinch. Simpson drives forward, feinting to the body and making Selby jump nearly back atop the ropes. Selby misses some jabs and overhands falling into yet another clinch before the bell.

    30-27 Selby

    Round 4

Simpson is loading up big whip-overs with the right hand and tossing out around-the-bend left hooks but missing. Selby is rocking and rolling back above the waist whenever Simpson throws a wild power shot, then getting right back to circling and boxing behind the jab with minimal combos and flurries sprinkled in. Long feigned hook by Selby, circling left on the outside. Clinch as they come together. Selby pushes Simpson to the ropes and they both slap away up top, and Selby lands a right hand a bit below the belt. Selby leans over to his right with his lead arm held low by his left thigh, and jabs up at Simpson. Chopping attacks by Simpson, ineffective.

    40-36 Selby

    Round 5

Body shot by Simpson. Selby circles out to his left, then right, then back again while chipping away at the sides of Simpson's guard with some barely turned-over hooks. Selby going for volume more than stiff punches here. GOOD right hand by Simpson, knocked Selby's head back. Wild uppercut driving forward off the rear foot by Selby, nearly gets him countered but both miss in the wild exchange that follows. Selby comes forward and puts Simpson DOWN off a body shot!!! Left hook flush under Simpson's right arm - on the armpit just above the ribs.

    KO!?!?!

No! John beats the count between 7 and 8...

YES! He walks away from Marcus McDonnell after regaining his feet.

    That is IT!

Good shot - didn't look particularly vicious though.

Just when I thought Simpson turned the tide with his nice right hook, he gets stopped by that body shot.
