I mean I understand Khan got it for winning 5 title fights or whatever, but now Lamont has it, does he keep it because he beat the "super" champ or does it become normal again.

I doubt anyone outside WBA understands or cares. In layman terms it is a way for WBA to extract more sanctioning fees.

Yeh like you have a regular man, then you have Superman. Superman is always better.

You have to unified the titles to had the belts or defend the title over 10 times. But if you are a superstar like Floyd, Cotto or Pac you get elevated because those guys fight high profile fights so you get the super belt like Cotto have.

It is a joke. The " regular " one is the 1# contender pretty much, The Super one is the real champ. Very dumb. There is also an " Interim title " below Regular

You get it unifying. Defending 10 times. Or being called Andre Ward. :good

wba super champ is basically a paper champ, like andre ward who got his "super champion" title awarded to him without fighting anyone.

Ward beat Kesler for WBA world title. Those regular champs running around super middleweight division are the paper champions

Super is the word to describe their real world champion - regular and interim are extra world titles thrown in for no other reason than to get more sanctioning fees and advertise more fights as a WBA world title fight.

If their is no super champion then the regular is the world champ and the interim is the number one contender going by any normal rational persons views.

WBA have expressed an interest in giving every single boxer in the world a world championship so as every bill can be sprussed up as a world title fight. The WBc have followed suit by naming their bogus champions after metals and jewels, the diamond and silver belt will soon be followed with platinum, bronze, ruby, sapphire, tin and rust by the time 2012 is over.
