Can't believe they've gone down this route. It wasn't bad enough refereeing to warrant an official appeal. He said he'll rematch Peterson no matter what the result of the appeal is, why not just rematch him and leave it at that anyway? What he really wants is the 'L' struck off his record.
What warrants a look is that Khan's team say they had reason to believe they were going to get the decision before the cards were read. What reason would they have to think that? Sky said there was a rumour going round that Khan was getting the nod,so what do you have a problem with? A genuine query.
One of the judges who had it 113-112 in favor of Peterson apparently changed his score in one of the rounds from 10-8 Khan to 10-8 Peterson after he handed in his scorecard. That's what seemed to cause the delay and the recounting. Definately warrants an investigation.
If they take the second point away then they need to forget about the one that Peterson got deducted for being 'knocked down' in the first round by a shove as no punch was thrown. Therefore everything balances out and Peterson still wins. Khan is and has always been a total **** with no humility and heeps of blame for everyone but himself. Can't stand this poor excuse for a human being, lower than a cockroach in my estimation.
Khan is well within his rights to appeal. If the rules are going to be so strictly applied to him for his pushing then the should also be applied to his opponent. Peterson was constantly crouching and ducking his head below Amir's waist both to avoid punches on the outside and avoid punches when coming inside. Now usually this is overlooked by refs but if your gonna be all prissy about the rules do it to both fighters. Peterson was constantly trying to lean his head on Khan's chest. You should only be trying to touch your opponent with the gloves. Once again this is usually overlooked by refs but if you gonna stick 100% to the rules..
I'll answer you... Perhaps the ref was warning Peterson to keep his head up so that Khan couldn't put him in a headlock so easily..? In future wash the hand you use to wipe your arse before posting on here as all your posts are frankly covered with shite! :nut
Anyone else think the delay in reading the scorecards was due to GBP/TeamKhunt trying to buy a good decision after finding out the money train was about to be derailed?
The travesty got worse with Smoger saying I wouldnt have done it [take the points off for pushing off]. I would not have done it in that situation there. to RingTV. Isn't another professional judge in the sport supposed to shut the hell up in situations like this? Jeez, talking about making it even more ambiguous. Why's this sport so damn subjective with all these controversies and travesties?
I love the way Khan fans make it out as if Amir was doing Peterson a HUGE favour by travelling to DC. This was basically a massive PR stunt that failed miserably. He wanted to get exposure in America to build up a possible fight with Mayweather in 2012. He was supposed to look spectacular and KO Peterson but it all went horribly wrong. PR stunt that failed. Khan's team overestimated Amir and underestimated Peterson
Exactly.I made the point at the start of the week that this must not be viewed as some sort of favour by Khan.He made a big noise about the old "going to the guy's backyard" stuff and this venue suited him just dandy pre-fight.He was out of options and I'll tell you something else;if he keeps up his stinky attitude he's going to struggle to fill venues in the UK. This is the guy who said he's Britain's premiere boxing attraction and deserves to be a PPV fighter. I much preferred him when he was a nice, humble lad who was seen as a possible antidote to anti-islamic feeling in the UK.It wasn't just his defence that changed after Prescott. The wolves are at the door Amir.I'd say you're in the last chance saloon with last orders imminent. A bit of humility and a big performance might just save you.Anything less and I'll have a coke if it's your round.
He's got worse problems than his chin, which actually is pretty good. His obvious lack of boxing fundamentals is more cause for concern than his chin.
