It wasnt up to Steve at the end of the day. The docs are just that... Doctors. Their mentality and position are a lot different. Marg could've gone one and the momentum was shifting but the fight was stopped based on the surgically repaired eye. It would be a great rubber match but Cotto won't ...and I don't blame him.
Margarito was also gaining momentum on his fight versus Pacquiao, if only the fight had gone to 15 rounds, he would had KO Pacquiao too.....
Margarito, had to bring every bit of his energy to catch Cotto in his last attemped...and, Yes he was gaining momentum but how long do you think that would of lasted with all the laterial movement, spining, and push Cotto was doing. It was very clear that Cotto was the strong of the to this night. Dude, no mater how this is presented...probables scenarios dont win fights....
I do kind of wonder what this fight would have looked like if it wasn't for the PAC man assist, but what ever cotto scored a legit tko over Margo and Tony needs to retire.
Smoger is saving face. We would have all liked to see the fight continue. The shots he is talking about were two punches from Margarito. The rest of the round was Cotto nailing Tony at will, pushing him back and muscling him to the ropes.
I wonder what this fight would have looked with out the Plaster-assit Margarito did on Cotto the first time around which basically Cotto was never the same after that. :huh
Smoger is a bit of a showman and loves the camera, but he is also one of the better "big name" referees in the business. I agree with his assessment that Margarito was gaining momentum. Metrosexual puerto rican boy was about to get stopped in front of his wife and kids again :deal
that is what i'm saying that last round garcia says was his best round but margarito really didn't do much and cotto was starting to stop moving and seat on his punches and that is why people are saying that margarito was on to him but from what i see margarito was weakening
