Froch is just too slow for Ward...

I really think Ward shouldn't have too much trouble out boxing Froch.... The only way I see Ward losing is if he makes a mistake and gets caught. Just my 2 cents, but speed kills... and Ward has world class speed and reflexes, where as Froch is skilled and powerful, but somewhat lumbering and slow.

I agree. Kessler couldn't handle Ward's speed, how is Froch going to? Ward likes to reel off a few punches and then get inside and do some work there, but I'd imagine for this fight he'll be looking more to stay on the outside, potshotting Froch. Froch looks slower every time I see him fight, he's not gonna be able to hang with Ward's speed. UD12 Ward.

Speed will not be the story of this fight.

The op is not comparing the styles, is comparing speed and rayrobinson is giving an example as to why speed isn't everything. Besides Froch already fought a faster fighter than Ward.

Ward beats Froch because he's a better boxer and smarter fighter, it has nothing to do with speed.

    This.

Froch is sneaky himself. Ward should win, but it won't be so much a speed issue.

    Taylor was fast too.

    It isn't all about speed.

If Ward wins it will probably be because of his defensive superiority.

Exactly. Speed is only one aspect of Ward's game. Plus he has the intellect to use his speed effectively.

I'll say it again: Froch is not as slow as many folks seem to think.

First, he actually moves backwards quite fast. It would be better if he also moved to the side, but that's a technique issue, not a speed issue. Granted, he's no RJJ, but he's still hard to hit from the outside. If he can keep Ward off him, he can dominate.

    (but that's a big "if.")

Second, his punches seem slow because of his awkward style, because he throws those odd, looping shots. They look slow because they take longer to connect, but they have plenty of speed on them to do damage.

If you actually believe it has nothing to do with speed then cleary you don't know jack about boxing , and with comments like that I would highly doubt you've ever been to a boxing gym before.

LOL don't get your panties in a bunch bro

Obviously speed is a factor. But Ward would beat Froch with or without a speed advantage, he's simply a better boxer.

Most Froch fans realise Ward is a top drawer operator, but he has never came up against an awkward fighter like Froch.
It's fair to assume Ward will win,but this is no mismatch and Froch will shock a lot of people.I believe he can pull off a shock.
