Lamont Peterson - World Class and top 5 boxer Amir Khan - World Champion , Unified Champion , Olympic Medalist Joe Cooper - Yokel amateur referee who works part time at walmart leave it to boxing to put a horse **** referee in the ring with a big time, world championship HBO fight seen across the world i dont recall the superbowl, world series, NBA finals using local referees from the YMCA to preside over such games of magnitude.....but we are talking boxing here
Any ref that didn't, wouldn't be completely doing their job. What Floyd does is a "push" whereas what Khan does is a "shove." You can push back a little to create space, but a forceful push and release is what's illegal. George Foreman used to get warned for that all the time, because it's illegal. (all his fights ended too early to get penalized, though)
Some one alluded to this earlier but using the words push and shove definitely highly the diffrences. The distiction that you guys made mostly ends my post. but i can't help but to think that their would no be no points taken away had the fight been ref by another judge.
interesting. I missed that. There was a gerat action going on in that fight that, that went right by me.
it says on boxrec "hitting behind the head" but I remember the ref constantly warning Ortiz about putting his head under Berto's chin before the point deduction. he toned it down after but still did it
