Jones won the title against the only man to win the UFC light heavyweight title and the Pride Middleweight (203Ibs) Grand Prix Title Jones defended against two former UFC light heavyweight champions His next opponent will either be a former UFC light heavyweight champion (Evans) or the last-ever Pride Middleweight (203Ibs) and Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion (Henderson). If you are complaining about the quality of his opposition then you are ****ing ******ed.
Hes already cleared out the division outside of Anderson. Evans wont touch him, its a ludicrous mismatch. Same goes for Hendo On a more personal note, wish FSM focussed more on MMA and less on wrestling, the writing is excellent, too good for a childish sport like wrastlin
On the first point, may they are mismatches but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a title shot. Evans has lost once in his entire career. Henderson has an ATG resume. If Jones is good enough to beat them then that's the very opposite of meaningless. If they don't deserve the chance to fight him then neither does Silva because both have a far better resume at 205Ibs than Silva. And then there's upcoming fighters like Davis or Gustasffson(sic). Jones has credible opponents for at least another eighteen months. And we all know of occasions when matches were dismissed as lopsided only for them to be surprisingly competitive (Silva vs Sonnen) or for the underdog to win (Edgar vs Penn). And glad you like FSM. There's a limit on how much MMA content there can because the magazine's readership is primarily a pro-wrestling one. I do have an article coming up on Ali-Frazier that's I believe the first-ever boxing column in the magazine's history.
Please. Machida has probably the BEST timing in MMA. I don't care how hard you hit. No timing. No connect. Even with this Jones demolished him. Jones is scary.
Yeah, we all saw how unbeatable the similarly proportioned 205 lb. incarnation of Alistair Overeem was before he moved up to HW.
Jone said after the fight that he was going right back to the gym to work on a few things that he was not happy about but will make him self a much stronger fighter John is a master of his craft, no one is going to beat this guy for a long time.
I haven't seen Jones fight off his back, but I'll admit I haven't seen all of his fights. I wonder if Rashad had success using his speed to close the distance against Jones in sparring, and was able to use his lower center of gravity in his favor and get Jones down. Evans seems rather confident in his chances. I know it's his job to feel that way, but he seems as though he has a reason.
The only time that he's ever been on his back is when he pulled guard on Rampage at the end of the second round of their fight.
Wow insults. Ok if it makes you feel better. Classless *****. Clearly can't exchange views with you. Little keyboard warrior branding about insults like you're someone. You ain't ****, mofo. If you think you can justify Jones's fights with these guys you've mentioned, simply because they are champions means nothing. For as good as they are, they are not even good sized light heavyweights. They are competitive strength wise when they fight each other, but get ragdolled against Jones, why? Not because he is far superior in technique but because he's just so much bigger.
So what Jones is meant to fight nobody? We should just sit back and applaud him as the victor? Evans and Henderson not only choose to fight at light heavyweight they also have had tremendous success there. Let's not get carried away with the Jones hype - let's see him actually face the best within his decision before we say its time for him to move up or face Anderson.
Henderson is 203Ibs without cutting weight. But he chooses to fight light heavyweight because the weight cut takes too much out of him now. There's no evidence that he's struggled due to size throughout his career and he's even gone up to heavyweight. Evans used to be considered a small light heavyweight but he looked absolutely monstrous against Tito Ortiz who's a HUGE light heavyweight. He's also beaten both Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin that are genuinely consider large 205Ibers.
Yeah. Jones is lazy. He only had 4 fights in 2011, including a title challenge and two defences. Why hasn't he fought Hendo and Rashad yet? Why hasn't he gone up to HW yet? He's 24 already and running out of time. Jones is a fraud.
