According to FN the WBC Convention ended in some heated moments and a unanimous vote by the WBC board that the "MW champion" Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. must face his "mandatory", Emeritus Diamond Get Out the **** Out of the Mexican Star's Way Sergio Maravilla Martinez.

The whole situation was a disgrace to begin with. After beating the World MW Champion, a P4P-er and an undefeated champ Martinez was stripped of the very title he went 3 days of advertising in Mexico with Sulaiman saying he hopes to hold onto for a long time. But getting Chavez Jr. a free title was more important I guess. Never mind that he was caught using illegal substance, Jr. captured a "Silver World Title" then got a chance to face Zbik, never mandated for Top Rank's Pavlik, for the "Full Title" with Sergio named "Champion Emeritus" and promised (but no ruling) that could "challenge" the winner for his own belt. Of course Arum and Sulaiman tried everything not to let it happen, the "Emeritus Champion" however has the right to fight the "Real Champ" and now the WBC's board voted unanimously that Jr. MUST face Maravilla and NEXT, a fight BTW HBO would love to make, but not Top Rank.

Will Chavez Jr. actually fight Martinez? I doubt it but he held onto a bogus title long enough while there was a real champion, so it's time to put up or shut up.

Fat **** Dan Rafael wrote yesterday that its almost 90% done the next Jr fight, either against Rubio (Jr called him out a couple of days ago) or against Martirosyan. He said nothing else is for him right now, so either of those fights I'm eager to see.

Chavez Jr. is a paper champion and will not fight Serge, Arum won't let his mini cash cow get slaughtered. Shame. There was a time when the best actually fought the best.

There will probably be some lame excuse from the jcc jr camp.
Can't safely make the weight anymore, injury, whatever to keep him out of this fight.

I would love to see it happen and see Julio land face first on the canvas. :yep

Martinez don't like pressure fighters. I think chavez jr has a chance. Since martinez has been bullying the welterweight and cherrypickin I hope chavez jr ko martinez. Chavez jr by 9th round KO.

If hypothetically Jr. Fights & losses to Martinez how exactly does this end his "Free" ride?

Win/Lose Chavez is still a bigger draw than Sergio...
& with Sergio's age beginning to show, I'm not too sure this fight is as easy as most think it will be.

I'm glad they are forcing this fight.
(Would have liked to see Jr. get Rubio out of the way first tho...)

Chavez Jr will vacate the belt as he should. None of yall actually think he is the best so why worry if the fight happens?

In the middleweight division yes he is. He is the paper champ, but not for long after he vacates and Sergio rightfully gets his belt back.

If anyone's been cherrypickin It's Chavez Jr. ass clown

Who's worried?.. Just proves Chavez Jr is a lil ***** and another Arum puppet. I can't blame him though, it's good business to avoid Sergio. Serge will rightfully get his belt back and that's all that matters.
