Not neccesarily true , it has to be said that todays Sonnen isnt yesterdays Sonnen , and yes you do have a fair point that Jones isnt the mediocre level opposition Sonnen's faced , lately , quite the opposite , he's the most complete fighter P4P in MMA . I think the point of this thread was / is , is Sonnen a credible opponent for Jones once the inevitable is over (Jones cleaning out 205) , if your asking me , if he wins his next 2 fights (Munoz , Silva) id have to say yes ...............
Yeah, according to Rashad. In actual fights, Jones has never even come close to being taken down against guys with much better wrestling pedigrees while Rashad has been put on his back by a shopworn Tito and a non-wrestler in Bisping. If you don't acknowledge that Jones has VERY high-level MMA wrestling, I don't know what to tell you. ETA: Just as many people claim that Jones handled Rashad in sparring that Jones didn't go out because he was deferring to a senior training partner. We're see who's telling the truth when they fight.
He was submitted by Babalu and Jeremy Horn. Two guys who are capable of subbing anyone in MMA if givin the oppourtunity.
What is this based on? His big mouth and the fact that he manhandled a guy with zero takedown defense in his last fight? Jones has a proven record against high-level wrestlers at 205. Sonnen doesn't. I agree with one thing though. If Sonnen does manage to beat Silva, I'd love to see him get his **** pushed in in a "super fight" with Jones.
Sonnen hasnt fought any high level wrestlers at 205. Just high caliber grapplers whom he got submitted by AFTER he took them down.
Based on the fact he threw Mardquart , Okami , Silva and Stann round they were empty pillow cases ............... Never once have i said i beleive Sonnen superior to Jones in any department , im saying should he beat Munoz and Silva he qualifies for Jones
why when silva/sonnen comes up, everyone forget silva has an obviously painful rib injury going into the fight
No ones forgot anything , it matters not what injury or crisis a fighter has going into the cage , will everyone remember Forrest Griffin's GF was practically in labour when Shogun KO'd him , or that Velasquez was off a 16 month lay off going into the dos Santos ..................... i doubt it . What happens inside the cage happens and no excuses can be made , Silva will have his chance against Sonnen in the rematch , until then we can only summise and debate on whats gone before us
