I pray if it isn't Pacquiao that its Miguel Cotto, I think that fight is long over due and that no matter what happens it'll be a good fight. I like Miguel Cotto's size and boxing ability over the course of 12 rounds. I don't think he'll win but I think he'll be competetive and it'll add more fuel to the fire.

Cotto is 18-2 in world title fights and has won 4 titles in 3 different weight classes ... he's accomplished and has some momentum. I think Floyd should challenge him for his title !!

Martinez @ 150 would be a massacre that wouldn't go the distance. I don't think that Martinez is effective at that weight and would be a walking punching bag.

If not Pac it should be Sergio, but I doubt he takes that fight. IF Floyd takes a Sergio fight for May 5th 2012 I will take back any negative comment I've ever made about him :good

The next best in his division would be Manny Pacquiao. Berto/Ortiz is set for February 11 so I don't see the winner of that fight having enough time to prepare for a May 5th bout against Mayweather. If he's not fighting May 5th there's no reason he can't wait an extra couple months until Pac is ready. Cotto is possible but unlikely as long as he is with Arum.

150 would be the lowest weight Serge has fought at since 2003 and it possible that it may weaken him, but Serge has been very effective at Jr middleweight which isn't much higher then 150. The weight May take away from his power but Serge is such a fitness n cardio freak I doubt if it takes away from his stamina.

this thread title is "if he doesn't fight Manny"...then the next best is the Berto Ortiz-your right not enough time but for the check, either would take it.

Pac has 0 reason not to take this fight. Cotto has his contract ending shortly.

Martinez is not eating for approx 24-36 hours to make 154-at 150 he'd have to drain and dehydrate for about 48-72 hours-TRUST IT WILL TAKE FROM HIS STAMINA.

"If not Pac" was the title.. I made it that way because Arum n Pac have already made it clear they're not fighting May 5th n honestly they don't need a reason. Maybe Pac want to take a well earned vacation n what's wrong with that.. God knows Floyd has. IMO it would be extremely dumb for either GBP or Dibella to allow Berto or Ortiz to take a May 5th bout less then 3 months after what most likely will be a difficult Hout. Maybe it's possible if there's a first or second round KO but that's unlikely.

Agreed ... I think he'll turn into a walking punching bag and nothing he does it effective. He gets stopped at that weight ... at a higher weight he gets shut out and out classed. Mayweather said it himself ... "Martinez wouldn't land none of that wild **** against me"

I doubt it, never has before.. But if that's the case then that's all the more reason for Floyd to take the fight.

If Ortiz landed against Floyd then Martinez sure as Hell will. Martinez is faster n more accurate than Ortiz.. Plus Floyd is wrong, Sergio does not throw wild punches like Pacquiao.. It's more like quick combinations and timed power shots.

Hell yeah ... if they can just convince Cotto take the fight ... he'll make more than he's ever made in his career and he would've fought the best of his era ... which would put him in the class of Felix Trinidad.

Vacation???? Floyd was willing to fight the entire time, as long as Pac took the tests-

Notice how Floyd immideately calls for the fight PRE JMM, ONCE HE FOUND OUT PAC WOULD TAKE THE TESTS-SOURCE ON THAT:deal

As for Berto-Ortiz-SURE IT WOULD BE STUPID-Besides the point-either guy would take the check.

    Have you ever boxed?

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOT EATING FOR 36 HOURS AND NOT EATING FOR 72 HOURS-TRUST I KNOW-

FLOYD FIGHTS AT 147-IF HE DOES MOVE UP ITTA BE TO FIGHT AT 154 OR 160-CATCH WEIGHT THING DON'T ALWAYS WORK WITH FLOYD.
