Not always they kept their poster boy Tito Ortiz away from Couture and Chuck liddell for too long. his fights with shamrock were pathetic.

UFC is just a company not a sport and it was ****ing obvious that UFC knew that Fedor would have destroyed their top heavyweights in the day.

Anderson Silva easily surpasses Fedor if he beats Jon Jones. And speaking of JJ he is rapidly catching up to Fedor's status. If he keeps dominating, he'll likely surpass both Silva and Fedor by the time he's 30 yrs old.

They say MMA takes a lot discipline, maybe more than boxing. I don't doubt that MMA fighters go through vigorous activity. I respect their grind. But you have guys like Lesnar and Jones who can become world champ with very little training (compared to some guys who have been training since they were toddlers). If Lesnar and JJ were to go into boxing with short term experience I highly doubt they'd be as successful as they are in MMA.

But Silva probably won't ever even fight JJ. He's ducking him, like Mayweather ducked Pac for all that time. Fedor took on pretty much anyone who would dare challenge him back in the day, and up until recently, he destroyed them all. Jones will go onto to be the GOAT in MMA if he keeps up at this rate. How old is he? 24? And he's already the UFC Light Heavyweight champ, destroyed Shogun, Rampage and Lyoto back-to-back-to-back and there really is no-one in the entire division (worldwide) that I think can actually BEAT Jon Jones. He is just one of those atheltic freak-of-nature types. He was born to do this.

If boxer's didn't spend so much time time developing their resumes by fighting inferior opposition for the first half of their careers, then I think they could achieve such things that Jones has achieved. But I suppose it takes alot more to actually get recognised in such a global sport like boxing. One you are in the UFC, that's half the journey to the title over. You just gotta compile up a 3 or 4 fight win streak and you've got a title shot.

And speaking of Brock Lesnar, the only reason he got a shot was because he was a major ppv draw. It was kind of **** that he entered the UFC with just one fight under his belt, which was against poor competition. He then loses his UFC debut in the first round, and then dominates Heath Herring, and he magically gets awarded a shot against a past-prime Couture. It just doesn't make sense. Then he goes on to get owned by Velasquez, disappears for a while, then coems back to fight Alistair Overeem, and if he wins then he will surely be awarded another title shot, if he loses, then Dana will throw him another bone by giving him another fight which will likely guarantee a shot at the title.

    **** Brock Lesnar.

They did everything to sign him, however, just like they do with all of their athletes, they wanted an exclusive contract with him, so that he couldn't fight with any other organization. He didn't go for this. They even were going to pay him more money than any current athlete they had under their banner during that time.

I agree, the UFC is an organization, however, they bring the most compelling matches every time to bring to the fans, hence... it's growing exponentially.
If boxing could've matched this, operating under one unified front, then it would be more successful. The super 6 was a huge success, despite it's length 2 years, and the other obstacles.
