    Serious talk now boys.

We Brits are good at sport, but we dont win the bigg'uns

Our history is filled with "nearly men" and "lovable losers"

Frank Bruno, David Haye, David Beckhan, Ricky Hatton, Wayne rooney, Gazza, Naseem Hamed, Tim Henman, Andy Murray!

these are just a few, does Froch fall into that list, the really good fighters/players who just weren't quite good enough when it came to the crunch?

Or is he one of the exceptions? Johnny Wilkinson, Chris Hoy, Lennox Lewis

    is he in that company?

Froch is in pole position to be a a typical British "nearly man", he got through to the final more on grit, determination and ruggedness and now he faces the American Ward, Asthetically pleasing, more skilled, more talented. Will he break steriotype, or will he be like Andy Murray in the final of a grand slam?

    What do you think?

We're talking about actual sports here. Plus Beckham and Rooney have won the European cup. So you can't say they haven't won on the big stage.

Why is Hatton on the list of nearly men then? A 2 weight world champion, ring magazine fighter of the year. He's definitely won on the big stage!

This threads a bit wanky anyway!

Gotta agree there. Yes you can debate to the high heavens if darts is a sport, but theres no arguing who the greatest player of all time is.

I agree it certainly is. But at the end of the day. Darts isn't a sport.

Darts is obviously a sport, just not a very strenuous one. Are you saying that shooting and archery are also not sports?
