I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty... If anestablished boxer like Floyd, Martinez, paquiao, wlad or someone else of that level were to change trainer or manager the new trainer n manager would NEVER get the standard percentages! There percentages wouldBe drastically cut because at that point the fighter is in the drivers seat.

i didnt mean what you said was wrong, just that boxers deserve more than just 40 percent. they are the ones doing all the training and risking their health.

fighters now at the top level are co-promoters or co managed with many promoters and managers only getting a set fee or something off the gate etc.

    in the uk

the trainer get 10% and the promoter gets 25% but if the fight is abroad then the promoter gets 33%

promoters can even get a share of other financial bonuses..eg: sponsorship

thats the way it used to be and im not sure if its still that way but its far too much.

a fighter should be self managed and co promoter

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    the way it should be....

    fighter 75% , trainer 10% , manager15%...for purse
fighter 80% , manager 20% .....for tv rights
fighter 90% ,manager/agent 10% for any commercial income

look at hbo , sho , sky cards etc....and listen to the announcers , there are so many co-promotions of the event taking money from the fight...it wont be off the fighters purse but maybe off the site fee etc etc

at the top level where fighters are marketable with their names and reputation alone, I don't see a need for a manager, especially if this manager has no leverage in getting his fighters into big fights.

It depends on how many people he has to pay (trainer, cutman, crew, (cook)...), if he pays his sparring partners himself, what share his manager will take, what the contract with his promoter is, what country he lives in (taxes), and so on and so on. Generally, the big established stars like Hopkins or Pacquiao will keep a 60% of their purses, all other pros will keep much less.

Floyd mayweather is very smart financially and he cuts out all those leeches and middlemen so keeps a much higher percentage of his earnings then most fighters. I mean financially as in the boxing business and not his personal life where he squanders his wealth on BS. The purse a fighter makes varies depending on many factors, and there isnt a really a set percentage

What about international fighters? who would fight in the US? Like pac for example, does he get tax by both countries? i heard he also pays taxes to the pillipines for every fight, is that true and why?
