Damn, didn't wanto to but the corners of my mouth turned up a a bit:bart Was just taking the high road and trying to get some more new fans: I've actually persuaded some crusty old guys I watch boxing with to appreciate the BJJ/wrestling in MMA. Sure, their striking may not be top-notch but I pointed out guys like Demian Maia and Wilson Gouveia using feints to find openings. Not all ignorance is hate ignorance
Boxing is an extension of dancing. Dancing requires rythmm. In order to dance, you must be on your feet or in extreme cases, on your hands which is possible, but maybe impracticle. Either way, it is an irrelevant point in my discussion. As I see it, wrestling and to a significant degree, kicking is a rythmm disrupter. This is why you don't see many MMA fighters with rythmm; however, as rythmm comes into play, I believe you will see much more boxing and it will essentially become kick boxing. Kick boxing is a good sport in its own right and those guys are excellent at being effective at it, but the next logical progression is boxing which is rythmm at its best. It is this that people will gravitate towards as boxers, years ago, such as Dempsey for instance taught an MMA fight course for the military which may have helped him in his losses, yet he still boxed, and boxing was still sport people wanted to watch.
No. Has nothing to do with that. MMA has MANY ways to skin a cat. A fighters statistics isn't really a absolute or true reflection of how good or bad they are. What you have to look at is who they fought, when they fought them, and in what era.
Really? do you think Dos Santos fighting in todays UFC would get the fights Fedor had in Pride? Fedor the GOAT was steadily fed a diet of cans even when he was considered the cream of the crop which padded his record.
this shows how deep the talent pool is just now and how good the top tier are to havea records like that....great statistic mate...
that's quite the flock of champs right now, it's hard to win any belt most of these champs have multiple defenses and the belts arn't getting tossed around like a hot potato like they were not long ago. Of course Dos Santos remains to be seen if he can keep his, the HW belt is the hardest to defend....or at least it seems.
tired troll is tired. First of all it's been a sport in the process of evolution in terms of both technique and training over the past twenty years as opposed to boxing which has had a strong foundation of training traditions over the better part of the past century.
Of course he has a padded record that's why he's considered the GOAT. Because GOATs have padded records. You're like a stuck record. One day you might find a new drum to beat. This ones got pretty tired.
Whilst this is mostly good for the fans, what about the fighters themselves? Top MMAs earn less money per fight than comparable boxers, pronbabl have shorter careers as a result of being in more gruelling fights and therefore have less scope for to maximise their career earnings?
