    Froch's team haven't complained about it, so they obviously feel comfortable about the situation.

    Very very good news for Froch.Smoger allows inside fighting and rough tactics like no other ref in the game.Bad news for the more technical fighter,the fight could now be a brawl.

    When have we ever seen Froch fight inside? I can't think of a single instance, mid-range yes not not inside. Ward doesn't fight at mid range he's either boxing outside or jumping in with a jab or 1,2 then clinching and holding and hitting. Any "infighting" will just be holding and hitting like the Bika fight.

    Whether he'll warn Ward for his holding is the question.

    Froch will work inside in this fight,Ward is better technically and from mid-range and outside Froch has little chance.His only hope is making a dogfight out of it with a lot of clinching and rabbit punches.A very ugly close fight is what the brit need and Smoger will allow that.

    Ward either holds and hits or fights off your chest ala Green fight. Froch can do the holding and hitting thing but noone is going to be given any decisive advantage by that. We've never seen Froch fight off his opponents chest or had to deal with a guy who infights like that. I wouldn't be shocked to see Froch have more success outside and using his jab and combos than inside. Ward's jab and grab style though will make it hard to be able to box though.

    Ward is better inside, Froch needs space.
    Ward has the better quick&short punches, Froch uses more wide power punches.
    Ward will score more than Froch inside, in a boring affair. We don't want that.

    Froch knows he needs a KO to win. He could win every round and still lose by SD, so he's not going to go inside and try to score points.

    - But to the point of this thread, sadly Smoger will likely let Ward do his BS inside job, smothering Froch, making it an ugly, boring fight, and then winning by the pre-packaged decision. I'm very surprised that Froch's team are OK with this.

    Yep. This is probably EXACTLY what it says on those little cards, included inside the big suitcases full of cash delivered to the hotel room of each judge.
