Americans, why aren't you in an uproar over the referee tonight?

    Just imagine had this fight been in London with the best qualified English referee in the business refereeing the fight?

    Can anyone imagine the uproar on these boards?


    Smoger is qualified, no doubt. But there are many qualified neutral refs available for this bout, why an american?


    Sick of the double standards. Froch yet again drawing the short straw, he's the only man in the tournament who's had to fight away consistently.

    I think Ward wins a decision, but this is outright UGLY.

    WAR FROCH!!! Here's to hoping Froch does something extraordinary and somehow ends it before the 12th and final round. :deal

    Read my post, I acknowledge that Smoger is a fine ref, but there are also good neutral referees (IE NOT FROM USA).

    Personally I think Smoger is the best ref in the world so I think it will be fair either way.

    This fight will have nothing to do with the Ref or the judge's tonight it will ne a clear win.

    Simple answer. Steve Smoger.

    As fair as a ref as you can get.

    This CAN NOT be used as an excuse.

    There's also a British judge and a neutral judge.

    No excuses can be made on the officiating in this one.

    Brits and other boxing fans on the same page, are already looking for post-fight excuses.

    With Steve Smoger in the ring, the best man will win. Plain and simple.

    If the ref was unknown, country of origin would be a factor to me. However, Smoger has an impeccable track record of being unbiased. I`m glad he`s doing this fight.

    People are only making silly, pre-fight, complaints about the ref and the location because they expect Froch to lose. They want their excuse lined up. I didn't see many people making such complaints before the Khan/Peterson fight. That's of course because everyone expected Khan to win.

    Why have preconceived notions that the ref will be incompetent, why don't we just let the fight play out and address any issues post fight, its sickening to continue seeing threads started the are full of excuses, whinning and bitching...

    Since when has there been a foreign ref in the states for a marquee match-up, like it or not the U.S. is at the top of the food chain when it comes to boxing, instead of laying the foundation for the "i told you so" in the event something happens just sit back and expect a good clean fight...

    There has been bad judging and referring in the states as well as overseas, get used to it, its human nature and stop bitching...*****...
