The only reason this hasn't been stopped is out of respect for who Omar's father is. The amount of punishment being delivered here is beyond ridiculous.
even big brother Julio's cries from ringside can't convince little bro Omar to fight with more passion, cause he can't and he won't. SPEED KILLS!
The commentators still have it a shutout, but scores are irrelevant now. I'd be shocked if it turned out as anything other than a Paez TKO in the end. No way could Omar have stood up to another five rounds of this.
Round 6 Paez is now bullying the giant back with a high jab and some whipping hooks to the jaw. Paez is flicking his wrist and shaking out his left arm held straight in front of him...getting very bold and cocky. Chavez tries to lean in and swing long clock-hand body shots at Paez, but in reply come 15-20 HARD shots to the face!! Paez looks contemptuously at Chavez as though he's disappointed in the lack of challenge. Paez keeps boxing Chavez's ears off the rest of the round. What a complete performance by Paez. Out boxing and out punching the undefeated prospect with the high pedigree. 60-54
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is pouring bottled water on Omar's head from behind the ropes on the ring apron, and massaging the top of his scalp with a damp towel. He looks like he is about to break down weeping on his brother's behalf.
Round 7 Big left hook to the face by Paez. Chavez hammers down a right and Paez scowls at both the ref and Chavez while backing up, gesturing by tapping himself to indicate there was a rabbit punch. Paez walks Chavez across the ring, and uses some slick above-the-waist magic to make Chavez look foolish with some long wild swings. Paez is barely getting touched. Meanwhile he's landing just about everything he throws. HARD uppercuts. Chavez's brains are rattling with each one. Chavez tries a big long left hook in earnest but Paez quickly darts back and just takes it glancing on the tip of his chin, unconcerned. They touch gloves at the bell. 70-63 Paez Jr.
Utter domination. The Chavez clan are sadistic for making Omar continue to answer the bell. The referee is in need of censure as well. How long did this go? :-( (don't answer; that was rhetorical for now)
Round 8 Chavez reluctantly gets off his stool and comes forward, jabbing. Paez pushes him back to the ropes and unloads his power volleys on him. Chavez lands a right hand, finally getting his own licks in. Paez is still landing better even as Chavez starts to reach out his long arms and tap the body backing up. Left hook by Chavez, but he's slapping now with very little torque. Paez is tiring too but has more left in the tank. Paez is cleaving to him and getting off those hard short uppercuts. 80-72
Round 9 Paez is landing his jab to the face and rights to the body, with some whipping all the way around over the top. Chavez is coming forward with his back hunched and arms up, looking for openings to jab through but getting countered as Paez backs up. Big exchange, and both lands hooks. 90-81 Paez
Round 10 Hard left hooks under the arms by Paez. Chavez is leaning in, pushing against Paez and getting raked for it as Paez shrugs him back and rips power combos. Chavez is swinging away with wide arm punches. Paez taps him on the head with a fast sequence of lefts and rights. Body shot for Chavez. Left hook to the face by Paez. Flush right hand by Paez. No steam on anything from either man at this point. Paez digs deep and finds some more head-turning combos. Chavez dribbles spittle as his neck is given some involuntary exercise. Chavez keeps pumping out jabs and rights as Paez weaves through them and drills him with hard counters. Paez avoids all but one hard right hand, but takes it without blinking and keeps punching on the front foot. 100-90 Paez Jr.
