Anyway, there's no reason to get uptight about Martinez vs Ward in terms of p4p. Ward is a rising star and will get where he needs to go if he keeps it up. By the end of 2012 he may well be top 3 p4p if he fights twice, wins and beats Bute in one of those fights.
he also had loses to two of those guys. And Margo sucks. Also just because they were ranked high in the PFP does not mean they were great fighters.
the wins of williams comes from his early days of fighting at 147 and 154. He fought martinez up north at middle, thats like calderon being a monster at mini weight then gets stop when he moves up and all of a sudden segura becomes rated by the ring as a top 10 fighter despite being mediocre as evident on his last fight. Martinez best win against a true middleweight is against pavlik and we all know he ain't all that good as a fighter,**** defense, come forward, flat footed.
atsch ya Williams got moved off the list after the 2nd lost. His only lost was to Quitana where he avenged in the 1st round.
Donaire has a couple of good wins. Darchinyin is a neat guy but how much credit can you give him for that win? If Donaire is in front of Ward it has nothing to do with resume.
sorry .. but no... don't let racial bias make you look like a complete fool. Ward is top 10 P4P for sure, but #2? you're a joke if you actually believe this.
Why? Everybody can look good against a pretty limited opposition. S6 is an overrrated tournament. Winning it means ****. You got Kessler, Jermain Taylor, arthur abraham, Froch, Glen Johnson, Allan Green and Ward. Individually, I would not even put any in the PFP list. So why would Ward suddenly become PFP top 5 for winning it. Kessler lost already to Calzaghe, Allan Green to Miranda, Glenn Johnson is dinosaur in age, Jermain Taylor lost to Pavlik, and blah blah blah ****. It is a solid competition but nowhere does it warrant a PFP lofty ranking if you win it. I think that winning against Mranda and Segura is greater than those.
Ward deserves to be in the debate with Pacquiao, Marquez, Doniare, and Martinez for the #2 Pound for Pound spot.
I haven't rooted for Ward since the Olympics. I don't like his style. He has no business in the top 5 p4p...top 10, yeah.
if ward dominates at another weight class then I can see a case for a rapid rise in the ranks of the p4p lists. yes he is deservedly #1 at 168 but could he handle Dawson at 175?
