Martinez won those 2 Williams fights, people are quick to forget that he was robbed on the 1st fight. Before Martinez fought Williams, "Williams will stop Sergio in the mid rounds" Before Martinez fought Pavlik "Martinez has no chance" People here are very forgetful, now everything Martinez did is beat some c-level fighters, same with Nonito, but after they fight and win, you'll hear people screaming they are potentially the best in the world, that is what's happening with Ward, It happens with most top fighters after a big victory. Also people are overrating the super six, they are more known which influences on how they rate them. Or better yet 1. Marquez 2. Pacquiao 3. Donaire
1. Mayweather 2. Pacquiao 3. Donaire 4. Ward 5. Martinez 6. Marquez 7. W. Klitschko 8. Bradley 9. V. Klitschko 10. Wonjongkam JMM is the biggest question mark in the bunching. I thought he won close but clear against Pacquiao, as did most, so most could say that JMM is #2. But, the official result is that, plus the whole career acknowledment, plus what the ranker feels they have left to display that talent.
A) Martinez was not "robbed" in the first Williams fight. B) People thought Martinez had a chance, for sure. Pavlik won 4 round plus scored the only KD, Sergio was not dominating against Pavlik. Looking back, was Pavlik in any kind of shape comparable to earlier in his middleweight run? C) OK. Tell yourself that about the part with the Super Six being overrated. Insane competition both Ward and Froch faced since it has started; Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham, Froch + Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward
You know very well Marquez is at the very least the #2 in the world. Marquez win over Pac, is equivalent to May beating Martinez at 160, Donaire beating Gamboa at 126, Ward beating Huck, Martinez beating Hopkins at 175. Marquez is very underrated by people putting him at 4, 5, or 6.
Martinez was robbed, on the 1st fight, He was landing the much cleaner punches through out the entire fight. Few did, most had Pavlik winning, the KD, was not a legit KD from what I remember, Martinez tripped or slipped, but I remember it was more of a slip than a legit KD. Don't forget about Taylor.... Being that it was a very popular event, people will notice those fighters more than the fighters in other divisions, the super eleven is Overrated by some, like the op, an a few others who have ward top 3, or had Froch in their top 10, leaving out some great names on the lower divisions. But it is a little underrated by some as well, my friends didn't give a damn abut any single super six fight.
1a. pac 1b. floyd 3. martinez 4. marquez 5. donaire 6. wlad 7. vitali 8. ward 9. gamboa 10. cotto/bradley best P4P ranking so far, no bias, no ****** business!!!
I like this list although I'd be more inclined to put Klitschko over Ward at this moment. If he beats Bute then I'd probably put him over Klitschko.
A big NO. Ward maybe skillful but he is not and will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER 100X be the 2nd best fighter in the world as long as Pacquiao, Mayweather and Marquez are here. 1. Pacquiao 2. Mayweather 3. Marquez
1. Pac 2. Floyd 3. Nonito 4. Juan 5. Ward Ward looked great but he only dominated 2-3 rounds. Most of the rounds were close and some of the rounds Froch clearly won. I think Froch made a case for being close to a top10 guy as well. Ward has been in my top5 for a while and I'm not surprised by what happened yesterday in fact like Steward would say it pretty much went as I expected. If anything Froch impressed me a little compared to what I was expecting. Pac = still the best. Floyd = still second best. Nonito = amazing fighter could make a case for #2. JMM = still at the top of his game and a stylistic nightmare for the p4p king. Ward = great in the making. Froch = very good fighter.
