Hatton fought 3 more times after his first loss in a big fight you daft ****. Plus Haye's coming back to fight Vitali.

Froch has lost once already as well.

Where the hell are Australian fighters on the world scene?

Froch could beat anyone in the division on any given night. That makes him elite.
He lost to Ward but so did everyone else. Ward is simply better.

IMO he did better against Ward than Kessler. Bute is nowhere near as slick as Ward so I see him getting hit and hurt by Froch too.

Ward has proven himself to be the class of 168 by quite some distance. Just cos he beats all the guys out there, it doesn't mean they're finished.

He looked slow last night, even for Froch. At 34 and with the tough fights he's had I don't think he has that many fights left. Hopefully he'll just fight a couple more times then retire. Maybe avenge his loss to Kessler then move up to 175 for a British mega-fight with Cleverly would be ideal. Carl Froch 3x world champion does have a nice ring to it.

I voted yes because even though Froch is still good, he is not elite.

Does an elite fighter get dominated? Lost to Ward. Lost to Kessler. "Lost" to a green Dirrell. Looks for help from the ref(like Khan) when fighting inside.

    Is that elite?

Im afraid he is, in my opinion he never was ELITE as such. The only fighters that could of been labelled possible elite or future elite level fighters for me were Dirrell, Ward and Kessler and as far as im concerned all 3 beat Froch. Well Dirrell should of.

Froch is a beast with a super chin, loads of stamina and loads of heart but for a top class fighter hes just too slow and too easy to win rounds against.

EDIT. And to make it clear it give me no pleasure to say that at all.

I think Froch could beat Kessler in a rematch and would tell us a lot about Bute if they ever fought.

He looked a bit dry and pale at the weigh in,and very very nervous on the ring walk,i've never seen him like that before a fight.Maybe Father time has caught up with him ? Ward was also a stylistic nightmare for Froch.Knowing Froch and his mentality,he won't retire on a loss, and a Kessler rematch and then retirement seem the logical choice.
Props to Ward for last nights performance though, even at his best i think Froch would have struggled to pin him down.

I was disappointed in Froch's performance last night. Sure he was out classed, but he did not try to risk much until the 10th round.

To answer the question, I still think Froch should be ranked around #3 at super middle weight. He could win another belt, but he's not going to beat Bute or Ward. As such I would not call him elite.

Problem with Froch is that he throws fights with lazyness. He steps off after landing instead of following up, like he wants to admire his work after landing a shot.
Maybe he just cant pull the trigger now. Froch has always had a low workrate and these things cost him against Kessler also (though I know he had training probs there).
Froch will now be exposed whenever he fights a fighter who can box on the outside with a reasonable chin

No. There are still plenty of tasty fights out there for Froch.

His promoters already in talks about his next fight according to the news just now.
