Froch was very dissapointing last night, Haye gave up against the Klits which Froch didn't do however.

Haye did not give up, could he have fought better, yes IMO but he never gave up, he went on the back foot and in survival mode at times because he had too, he wasn't in the ring with Snow White FFS.

After around half way stage he was just aiming to survive not trying to put in on Wlad at all. Haye knew he would probably get KO'd so decided against going for victory

Totally agree. It was a **** and stupid display. Nowhere near as embarrassing as Hayes tho.

But he was an idiot for thinking he might be able to box ward, then realising that wasn't gunna happen to just do nothing until the 12th then deciding to do what the entire universe knew was what he ought to have done in the first place if he had any chance if winning.

It wasn't a lack of a gameplan, froch was throwing in combination and when he did Ward matched him. So whatever he did, he was out of his depth. He was used to dictating the pace with a lot of his opponents, but ward had him dancing to his tune after a few rounds.

Froch can't throw combinations. He's not that sort of fighter. He throws single shots, and then throws slightly more frequent staggered single shots when he tries to up the tempo. He usually only can do this if he's fighting a static target or when a slick guy (like Ward) tires and stops moving as much. *

He tried his best, and for me he somewhat redeemed himself class wise in those final rounds. He had Ward in a bit of trouble and looking for it to end.

    * I'm excluding his amateurish arm-punch type flurries up close.

Wee bit harsh.Froch got carried away because his heart got him through against Taylor, the judges got him through against Dirrell and he felt he was robbed against Kessler. In reality,he should have tried to sort things that went wrong in these fights and make himself a better fighter. The ONLY way he was ever going to take the Ward fight was by getting a big shot in and sparking him but Wards ringmanship and savvy was leagues above Froch.Im glad his train has been derailed as the pundits as usual were making his career into something it realy isnt, whereas if he had lost against Taylor and Dirrell he would have been forced to at least try and improve.Personally i couldnt give a **** what he does at SMW and he wont be of much interest to me now unless he steps up a weight.

No comparison, if anything Froch was trying to hard and thinking too much, he looked extremely tense and struggled to get to term with what Ward had to offer. Bbut who can blame him he tried numerous different tactics and none of them worked. Over the last two/three rounds Froch went hell for loose and really went for the knock out, but that was never going to have much effect against someone as smart and talented as Ward.

Thats true in a sense I agree, I think its down to the fact it dawned on him how much of a task he had in front of him, Wlad was throwing punches too remember and is very difficult to box.

    This

I think if hed just gone all out from round 1 like a lot of people are suggesting he'd have ran out of steam and got stopped. I dont think theres a lot he could do about it, Wards just tons better and a terrible style for him.

Uve got to be fair to froch, I think he tried up until the final bell. Before the fight in almost every interview froch was convinced if he landed he would ko ward bcos he was talking about his power & how ward was knocked down by a non puncher a few years back. When ward took the best froch had I think it surprised him and he had no other plan. But the guy tried. So u can critisize him for many things but not for lack of trying.

The biggest problem for both Haye and Froch is that they are English.

When an English fighter gets a real chance to reach the summit he ends up falling off the side of the mountain.

I don't know why English fighters bottle it when their big chance comes but they do.

Its either that or that they arent as good as the people they were fighting, one of the two
