With the Super 6 reaching its conclusion last nite, we took a giant step toward unification. I would have liked if last nite's fight had been worthy of a rematch. Unfortunately, I don't think so. There are still some good fights to be made on the road to unification. That being said, let's see how this looks..... Spring 2012 1) Ward vs Mr. Mandatory- Anthony Dirrell, or whoever. The S6 Champ deserves to pick and choose for a few after a long, grueling tourney schedule. 2) Froch vs Bute- Out of the frying pan and into the fire for Froch. If he wants to get right back into the mix, this is the way to do it. Or wait for a rematch with Kessler, but now without a belt, that is less likely. 3)Kessler vs Stieglitz Summer 2012 4)Ward vs Tune up. 5)Winner of #2 vs Winner of #3, AKA Kessler. Bute/Froch or Kessler fight for a showdown with Ward in the fall/ winter. Bute-Kessler, Froch-Kessler II are both appetizing. Fall/Winter 2012 6)Ward vs Winner of #5. Unification. Hallelujah. Other opponents that could be made for anyone who falls out of the unification mix include Andre Dirrell, Kelly Pavlik; provided both fight and win in the next few months. Any other ideas about how it could/should play out? This content is protected With Froch-Bute hooking up for a 2 fight deal, we'll have to roll with the punches........ Spring 2012 1) Ward vs Mr Mandatory 2) Froch vs Bute I 3) Kessler vs Stieglitz Summer 2012 4) Ward vs Kessler 5) Froch vs Bute II Fall/Winter 2012 6) Winner Ward/Kessler vs Winner Froch Bute II- If Bute and Froch split their little double dust up, let them hash it out with # III and let the Ward/Kessler winner take a stay busy fight and push this fight back to early 2013.
Sounds good but I tend to believe Bute has only 2 fights left in him at SMW. He is the biggest SMW out there and it seems to be tougher and tougher to make the weight.
Don't agree that Ward should get to pick and choose, he's already had two fights with people below his level in Green and Bika. Go after Bute now or fight Andre Dirrell after his tune up.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a few big names move up to Light Heavyweight before another unification happens. Especially after this tournament and some very tough bouts. I expect Froch to move up at some point. Ward and Dirrell also...as will Bute.
Either way. Ward fought Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham and Froch. That's a pretty good run. If he were to fight Bute or Dirrell, neither one has had that rough a schedule over their last 5. I for one certainly wouldnt complain if Ward were to take on Bute right away. Although Ward has already stated that Bute needs to step it up first. I don't think Dirrell has earned it.
As much as i hate to see Ward putting off a fight with Bute......... Bute Vs Froch is a good fight right there, though it most likely won't happen. Froch wants to rebuild his career and will probably want to take on Kessler again. just my two cents
Bute definitely deserves to face Ward but i would love to see Froch v Bute as there seems to be genuine disdain for one another... I'm sure I'm in the minority, hell I may be alone on this but i think the better Dirrell is Anthony, more power, also has speed, seems more confident and also more poised, I think he should test himself against someone like Johnson, Bika or Mendy, I don't think Anthony should qualify for fighting for the titles at this time although he is the mandatory... Maybe Andre Dirrell can face Pavlik or a Froch rematch... Kessler v Stieglitz is good right now...I would also love for Edwin Rodriguez to be thrown in this mix aswell...
New article at the Scene: Hearn says Froch could be only be fighting next summer, in Nottingham, Kessler is the main focus, Bute is a possibility. Froch isn't available for Bute in the spring?!??
You could be right. If Froch is looking to rebuild, and he certinly earned a tune up type fight, he could go that route in the spring. However, i dont see Kessler giving him the rematch just yet. Although i'd love to see it. I'd also love to see Froch vs Pavlik in the summer.
Ward vs. Bute has got to be the big one. Maybe Ward vs. Mandatory and then Froch vs. Bute with the winner fighting Ward (again, in Froch's case)
If so, it would probably last only 1 high profile fight. I dont think Bad Intentions has it anymore to hang with top guys anymore. Right on. Dammit. Dont they know they are screwing with my agenda?
