Ok so...like any other matchup in boxing?

    So that deserves a thread?

ANd, does this imply Ward doesn't want money? :think

See that's what you don't understand, most fighters in Froch's position would do the same thing. You sound like Froch has more courage than other fighters which is bull.

If Froch won S6, he wouldn't have fought Bute for sure but still props to him.

It deserves a thread because of all the "Froch is a warrior! Wow I can't believe he's fighting Bute right away!" bullsh!t that you can read on ESB right now.

Ward is in a much better position than Froch right now and has more bargaining power, that's why he can afford to turn down Bute.

Boxing is a sport where the best don't fight the best, despite money and titles being on the line. I agree with what you're saying, because this is a great chance for Froch, but he's doing something nobody else in boxing would.

No, what you don't understand is that I do understand that :smooch

In his position, after 6 or 7 consecutive tough fights away from home, a lot of fighters would definitely have opted for a light touch confidence building fight in their home town, and a couple more money making fights before stepping back up to that level. Conversely, SOME fighters would go straight in with the champ, away from home in a fight in which they'll likely be the underdog.

He could go back to Nottingham, rebuild his name and make a lot of money with a few fights against top 10 guys while the others fight it out for the belts, then come back and challenge for the title in 1.5 years time when he has nothing to lose. THAT is the sensible business decision here.

Instead, he is going straight in with Bute in a fight which, if he loses, would pretty much end his credentials as a challenger, cut down his future earning potential and see him on the scrap heap.

:think Wow, sounds like a warrior mentality to me, Shaun. But...but I thought he was only interested in the $$$ & the belt? I'm confused.

    Me too. :?

Why would a fighter jeopordise his future earnings like this? after all I though he was only interested in the $$$.

Maybe today we are living in opposite land where taking on tough fights back to back consistantly doesn't = warrior and taking easy fights to build up your earning potential does.

There's a reason why a lot of fighters (especially in Britain) stay at home fighting overmatched 'name' opponents before cashing out against the champ. That reason is because it makes business sense

stop with the warrior bull****? you sound stupid, honestly. his come from behind knockout win against taylor, war with pascal, war with kessler and comeback clinic against abraham tell otherwise. regardless of the fact that his promoters have put him in a good position to win fair and square against bute at least once, he's still a warrior. since when does putting yourself in a good position business wise deplete your warrior status?:yep

ever hear of sugar ray robinson?:nut you, my friend, are a walking, talking, typing, idiot

You forgot the fact that he's 34 yrs old and has a lot of wear and tear because of the wars he's been through. Does he have the time to take some gimme fights and then step up to elite opposition later down the road? I don't think he has many fights left in him which is why he can't afford to turn down a shot at the biggest ticket seller in the div.

Also he agreed to fight on Bute's home turf because the rematch will be on his home turf.

Froch is at the stage of his career where he can't worry about future earnings, he has to take any payday he can get before he's over the hill, which could happen anytime.

what, to you defines a warrior? a guy who's been through wars? a guy who fought the best time after time? a guy who despite his technical deficiencies, still manages to be a tough dude who gives it his all win or lose? this is a dumb, dumb, dumbass thread, a dumbass thread.

I'm not talking about him being a warrior in the ring doofus. :patsch I'm talking about people calling him a warrior for choosing the best option for his career right now. Reminds me of people praising Ortiz for taking the Mayweather fight AKA the biggest payday in boxing...
