Unfortunately for you, your dreams don't count. Ward will have to do it before it becomes a fact. Ward's fans are something today. Ward would win easily against Bute. Ask some pro fighters, just for fun.

Anyay, the fact Ward doesn't want Bute right now means a lot. That means that Bute is the only real challenge left. Bute-Ward will be a defining fight for the division.

For me Bute-Froch is 50-50 (I slightly favor Bute) and would determine the #2 guy.

Or if it's Froch, he'd need to rematch and beat Kessler even after beating Bute to be called #2. (whereas Bute could automatically be #2 by beating Froch, since he doesn't have that albatross hanging around his neck of having lost to a diminished Kessler. Of course, Bute beating Froch and then Kessler would certainly not be a bad thing for his status and it would just firmly solidify him as #2...it just still wouldn't edge him ahead of Ward. Only beating Ward h2h could do that, IMO).

Possible but I also think Froch can apply enough pressure to where he wins enough of the late rounds to take a close decision. Andrade made things tougher on Bute in the later rounds and if Froch were to have similar success but starting a few rounds earlier than I think he wins. Its pretty much a 50/50 fight and if Ward-Bute doesn't happen next than a Bute-Froch match would be a nice next option.

    Tall, powerful and sneaky.
Not to mention that nasty uppercut and Wards stamina.

Has Bute fought anyone like Ward? Or even anyone with um skill? I think not. Johnson is the most skilled guy on Bute's resume.

And another question. What if Ward's chin holds up with Bute's uppercuts? What will be the plan B? While Bute is very good at ad******g, I think Ward is exceptional at it.

It depends who Ward faces meanwhile. If Bute beats Kessler and Froch, then we'll have to go down on their resume. Bika and Miranda: both beat them. Green and Abraham for Ward. Johnson, Andrade for Bute. Apart from being American, I don't see what advantage Ward would have.

Of course, if he beats Andre Dirrell, that's another story.

It goes both way, so nobody can say the fight would be easy for Ward without being a nuthugger.

I think its time Andrade/Bute I one got put to rest as an effective guage. It was Bute's baptism by fire that all fighters go through. The same Andrade got KOed early in the rematch, that analogy got KOed with him.

That's not definite as it seems. Both have a better chance of stopping Bute than vice versa. Both have excellent chins. Froch only went down once and Kessler has never been off his feet in his career. I don't think it's set in stone that Bute beats both expecially considering both can do what Andrade did in the first fight and finish it.

But that shows a ***** in Bute's armor and the 2nd fight had more to do with the decline of Andrade than the ascending of Bute. Look at Andrade since then. I think it's possible that Bute can't even beat Carl Froch. As much as I dislike Froch more than Bute, I believe Froch and lay Bute out. Ward is clearly a tough fighter and that showed. I don't think Bute has as much heart as Froch, Ward, or even Kessler.

I would add he has some of the best phonebooth offense in the game. I really think his offense is better than his defense on the inside (not saying his defense is crap on the inside, just that his offense in there is his defense in a way)

I'm not so sure we can put the Andrade fight behind us, Andrade's pressure got to Bute and since then no one has really put the same pressure on Bute, especially since Andrade got stopped quickly. Maybe he's fine next time but maybe not. I don't put an asterik next to Bute's first win over Andrade either, I see Bute as beating Andrade twice but I did see pressure get to him and one thing Froch does is apply pressure.
