Jermaine will be fine as long as he does not fight a big puncher

:huh, shiiiiiiit. So he was able to beat Hopkins twice, draw Winky Wright, beat Cory Spinks, but you think Sergio is going to "outbox" him...easily? Cool story, Would read again!

Since then he's been knocked out 3 times, the final time brutally by a big puncher, and he's been off for over 2 years. Sexy Serge should have no trouble with him if that ever happens.

I hope he looks good, and that he bows out permanently if he doesn't.

JT's way past it. I wouldn't expect him to look fantastic, but this fight he should win. But who knows? Two years off, 4 losses out of 5 and 3 by KO. If he climbed back into contention it would damn near be a miracle.

Ummm Kay, well as I said earlier, I guess we'll see how the 30th goes, then take it from there. All I'm saying is that if he's 80-85% of his best, he would not only be a bit more than an "easy fight" for Sergio, he'll beat him. He's still relatively young, he's taken a good break, he's been cleared by every medical professional he's seen, the simple fact is he's been stopped by some big punchers, but Martinez isn't a huge puncher. All that said he may be horrific, we will see, but Martinez hasn't faced/beaten someone like Jermain.

He didn't look as bad as people are making it againt Froch and AA.

Hard to know how he will fare but I'll sure have a look.

can anyone think of anyone who had his disasters in the last couple fights and came back to be a champion and threat?

    Down @ 160? :think

Ever since the catchweight rematch, I don't think anybody ever believed we'd see those two mix it up as middleweights again...funny that the road could wind all the way back there now.

He was winning before Froch stopped him.

He was actually getting outboxed by Abraham, as sad as that is.

I think he dropped off in a big way between the two.

    :thumbsup

At the time people thought he did OK against Abraham because he won a few of the early rounds. Given how AA's career has gone since that fight it doesn't look so good now.

In fairness, he was deducted for "low blows", and couldn't go to the body (obviously the best place to attack AA) and to get openings up top, along with not having a real trainer, in a hostile environment, with already shakey confidence, it was just too much for him.

great call. they are also fighting at lower weights and that drains the body more than jt's weight class. i'm a big jt fan and hope he retires but if this is what he wants then you just hope he's successful. it's like you want your country to be a peaceful country, but if they have to go to war, you have to support the troops even if you don't support the cause.
