So when was I supposed to be impressed by Carl Froch?

He got schooled by Taylor before he ran out of gas.
He got a gift against Dirrell, he won a maximum of 4 rounds in that fight.
He got beat down by a shot Kessler.
He struggled to beat a 60 year old Glen Johnson (who didn't win a MINUTE against Bute).
He got the **** kicked out of him by a one handed Ward.
His only decent performance in the Super 6 was against the blown up middleweight Arthur Abraham who loses to everybody at 168.

If Froch is actually fighting Bute he's going to be embarrassed and savagely KOed into retirement. This guy is a C+ fighter at best and always has been.

I hate so say that I agree with you in some way.
I always gave Froch alot of credit, but feel Froch is his own worst enemy. I feel Froch could have done so much better but seems to throw fights on lazyness, stepping off when hurting a fighter and not commiting and pressing

doesnt matter he gets the job done. i only became a fan after he lost to ward and made no excuses. that was a breath of fresh air, and we need more boxers who will admit when they lost to a better man, instead of blaming their pinky toe, blisters, weight drained, referee was showing favortism, and the other played out excuses. and not only he said he lost to a better man, but he also said it was on his mind right away that he needed to improve and work on his fight game a little more to deal with slick fighters as soon as his body recovered.

it depends how you view it, people can easily say,
he was being outboxed by taylor and rallied to score an exciting final round KO
he struggled to put on a good performance against a rattled, negative dirrell
he put on a fight of the year candidate against a top super middleweight in mikkel kessler
he struggled against johnson's right hand but still beat him convincingly in an exciting battle
he was thoroughly beaten against THE top super middleweight in andre ward
he showed more than just a slugger's mentality in his whitewash of arthur abraham

he fought jean pascal and beat him in a fight of the year candidate

he's also fought all of these guys, one after another, no soft touches in between. he may not be a sublime boxer but he's definitely a top super middleweight and a throwback warrior

Johnson/Froch was always going to be a close fight. How can you be impressed by Bute and not Froch? Whether you agree or not he has beaten far better fighters than Bute, I don't see how you can suddenly come to the conclusion he would knock him out when Bute hasn't even fought anyone at the top of the division, never mind knocked them out. :rasta

Maybe if Froch learnt to use his head like Ward maybe he too would be renouned as elite fighter..
Ward does **** all for me ,hate his style and punch's like a girl.

Andrade was in the Ring top 5 both times he fought Bute. Kessler outlanded him over 2 to 1, never put him on ***** street. :D

Back in 07-08, Berrio & Andrade were considered biggest puncher & chin in the division, respectively. No huge talent there, but high risk alright. Bute fought them both, then waited through the tournament fighting mandos and.. Magee, Showtime's pick last winter.

Nevermind I said that though, it'll just amaze you that much more if Bute puts Carl in trouble. :bbb

Well it's always easy to say these things in hindsight but I would agree with some of what you stated.

I thought Ward would win on points because I was pointing towards the Taylor and Dirrell fights, where his lack of speed and ability to cope with his opponents speed proved problematic for him.

However, I did not think he would get dominated for so many rounds by Ward and I was surprised how easily Ward was walking him down on the inside as Froch was always talking about giving as good as he got.

His best fights were against guys who were standing with him and trading - Pascal, Kessler, Abraham and Johnson. I think Froch did well given his lack of speed, KO power and experience for a man of his age.

Nit sure what the future holds for him but I can't see him beating any of the belt holders (assuming Kessler beats Stieglitz).

Andrade should never have posed as many problems for Bute as he did though, I mean, he might be able to hurt Carl, that wouldn't surprise me, what surprises me is how certain you seem to be about it! & I don't understand how a fighter who beats Dirrell, goes to war with Kessler in a close fight, and wins every round against Abraham is a C+ fighter? :rasta

I have to disagree with these statements but ultimatley , kind of agree with the thread

Taylor was KO'd , it doesnt matter how , why or who didnt have the gas tank , he got KO'd , thats closure

Dirrell lost that fight Froch didnt win it !!!!! , he didnt do enough (Dirrell) while clearly having the ability to do so , simple as that

He clearly beat Johnson , it was not a struggle at all , it was a good solid performance in a hard fought fight , despite his age , it was a good win

Froch deserves his dues @168 , i dont like the man (as a fighter or a person) , but he deserves his dues :deal

Let's be serious - he did not beat Dirrell. The most impressed I have been by Froch was in that war with Kessler, I will give you that. I just feel Kessler is past it, he had eye issues etc.

Abraham struggled in every fight in the Super 6, aside from Taylor who is a walking KO. Taylor has won 1 fight in 4 years.

I'm not questioning the legitimacy of this win, just the performance. A lot of guys can/will KO Taylor as he fades in the late rounds of a fight.
