Just heard from the scene that Chavez Sr. is angry at WBC for putting Jr. to two mandatory defenses against Rubio and Martinez. If i remember correctly, that Chavez jr. weaseled out of a fight with Rubio to fight Manfredo and now that he can't escape Martinez getting a Mandatory shot he wants to complain about WBC and wants the Rubio fight now and not do a two fight Mandatory that includes Martinez? So Blantant duck! Someone just strip this boy from his title already. It is clear that he just wants to cherry pick.
Yeah he's a baby because he's a small cash cow for Arum. His daddy trying to come in and stop it is hilarious, though.-(
More than any other fighter going right now, he's the one I'd like to see KTFO.. he epitomizes everything that's wrong with boxing at the moment : The ultimate padded record , living off his father's name, and avoiding challenges at all costs.
Duddy, Manfredo, Zbik, and Rubio are all big challenges for a guys like Chavez. So no he is not avoiding challenges. He even rematched Vanda after the controversy of the first fight. So no, he is not avoiding challenges. Fighting Martinez is not a challenge, it's a guaranteed ass whooping.
If guys like Duddy and Manfredo are big challenges for him, he has NO RIGHT to call himself a champion and parade around on his father's name making millions off of it. Likewise with the Martinez fight, I agree it's an ass whooping, but guess what? Martinez is the rightful king of the division, if Chavez wants the prestige of being a champ, go fight him for it. Period.
This. WBC is reclaiming some of the credibility that has been lost by the other sanctioning bodies...except the IBF of course. I truly hope this doesn't happen but don't discount the possibility that Chavez will relinquish the WBC belt after defending against Rubio, then build a confrontation with Canelo. There's just too much money to be lost by putting him in the Maravilla meat grinder. You heard it here first.
That sounds about right. I woudn't be surprised if Bob throws Chavez to Cotto at 160 instead of Martinez after the Rubio fight (which even winning against Rubio is a question mark for me). Chavez actually has a better shot against a guy like Cotto due to size differential, to compensate for what he lacks in skills. At least with the Cotto fight, Bob knows he keeps the money in-house if Chavez loses, as opposed to the fight with Martinez.
Chavez jr is a paper champion and he's know when he fights someone with a pulse he's gonna get exposed. Chavez Jr or Chavez light as he should be called because he's not worthy of his father's name, is the saddest excuse for a champion because he exactly believe's he's as good as Arum and his father say he but the rest of the boxing world knows otherwise
Rubio would definitely be a couple of steps up compared to Manfredo but, while he does have a great KO percentage, I don't think he can starch Jr. and I just don't see MAR winning a decision in Texas or Cali(likely locations)...again, too much money on the line... just a hunch.
Somehow I think 2012 could be a very bad year for Jr. If he manages to beat Rubio and start building up against Canelo, he is also walking on thin-ice because fighting Canelo is a toss and Canelo could actually whoop his ass. Also agaisnt Cotto not an easy challenge at all..., and Maravilla .. damn. IMO the Canelo fight would be the most dangerous for him, the prestige he would loss in Mexico is a price too high to pay.
He's an embarrassment to true mexicans. He's a fraudulent second rate fighter, living off of a GREAT NAME.
